@N3ke ¿como lo haces?
“…peer review is unpaid and undervalued, and the system is based on a trusting, non-adversarial relationship. Peer review is not set up to detect fraud.”
Interesting article from Elizabeth Bik on fraud in science journals and the important work of detecting and addressing it. https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2022/10/29/opinion/science-fraud-image-manipulation-photoshop.html?unlocked_article_code=nrEDrJcW8NgN8tJXeuJ9suHq6nEupeXW500qY9J_8rlST0t16TQs6uVeE8pgTZ7Dbu67a52kBuXwuC4r-EEtf-WKUsAQ8if_4ptthW-7vmkIngNy_XaYi-qWKmDMECqPSPvoY5J_EOaMLVApa6RWudFm_7nhNUWRGNNgDQbi0zEl4UEjOBgClU28_RU0Z8uC24Ag3InwHGGkY9zOnV44dIzodTMCO6eJ_LzdcGmDcCP1NGhA6jZxwRbLZUfNiFsXIKod0BHHaH-Gf5SJzZmCvzTe3pRIJLHdPNlTpUUseyWcxnX917lwKOK0kwPjiGumgfFfLaBExhaOSVYABndRRx8dN-XwvXk0uNtr4nVdaZkQMd9cNsVf_K9w8v-lLsxQJOOSiw&smid=share-url #science #scicomm
@leovarnet Those she catches (and she's fantastic!) are the easiest to catch I'd assume. And the era of deep-fakes is just starting. I imagine fraudsters do the minimal need effort to fool the system. The system doesn't require so much effort after all.
@leovarnet I'm more pessimistic. Do you know Elisabeth Bik's work on images, especially in the biosciences? I'm worried about AI generating fakes. Real scientists, a minority of those holding the title, should find out themselves and go on.
@peterdrake @freemo Thank you all.. It was under a little banner on my little Android screen, it's now all clear on the desktop version 😅
I'm here to learn, to read, more than to write. I'd like to read something about #Ukraine #democracy #freedom #energy
@freemo @peterdrake I can create a new list, buy then I can only add accounts, not hashtags..
@peterdrake @freemo How do you do that? I can only add accounts apparently.
