@freemo Twitter is going down. And... It's hard to explain but I always feel weird as a lab tech approaching doctors. He's LOVELY, don't take that wrong, but it's generally drilled into us that we don't talk to the docs. And it just kinda carries over. I'll try to catch him on his next post if Twitter is still up.

I'm going to be boosting some of my friends who are new here and looking for people who are interested in their hobbies. If you feel like it, maybe you could boost them to help with that. They didn't come with a built in academia following like I did.

There are now no less than 42 curated lists of academics on Mastodon, in various subject areas, on this GitHub, as well as links to groups, preprint and bibliography bots, and servers/communities. Check it out, tell others about it, and bookmark it for future reference! github.com/nathanlesage/academ

@Geripcmd Lab scientist here. You're gonna test positive on antigen tests for up to a few weeks. For PCR tests, it could be 90+ days. So it's not necessarily a bad sign you're testing positive, but... I don't agree with the CDC's back to work policies.

I agree with the 10 day symptom free window. Not everyone can get that from their employer (I know I can't) so what my heart and my infectious disease parts want aren't gonna happen. :blobcatsick: Wear a good mask. Lament the world.

So you're just getting started in Mastodon huh?

Here's a neat thing. On the web interface you can search for a Hashtag.

Same as you can on Twitter.

Something like #Ukraine, for example

But on the search results, see that little user icon on the right? Click it and you'll follow it as if it's a user!

New posts with that tag will arrive in your home page, even if you don't follow the author yet

Not that I don't love everyone who has come here on but someone has to drag Dr. Sam Ghali (@EM_RESUS on Twitter) over here. It would be a huge loss not to have his weekly and cases.

I'm just a lab tech that had to do ECGs at my last job and I learned SO much from his tweets. I actually can tell when things are wrong now and can identify certain conditions. He's brilliant.

Someone has to have an in with him.

When people discover their agency, no one can ever take that away.

Not dictators, not authoritarians, not billionaires.

You can take away their tools, their tech, their platforms.

But you can never take back their agency.

The people will always find a way.

The twitter outages graph looks remarkably similar to the mastodon new user graph.... just saying ;)

I am so fucking thrilled to see so many of you here. I love every last one of you. Never forget that. We can make it work here. If you have questions, there's lots of people to help. Don't give up. Let me know.

@NuclearAnthro Actually in a little bit of tears to see you here, friend. I think honestly you will love it over here.
