Hello!
We are a small shop in #Uxbridge which is in London "technically" but if you say you are in London when you're here people give you a dead arm.
We #print and #embroider stuff for people and try to make printing and embroidering stuff for people as fun as possible.
We have come from Twitter with the other hoards, but don't worry, we've wiped out feet.
We mainly tweet about #shop life and the more interesting things that happen to us.
Thank you!

The number of observations submitted to the #CitizenScience platform @inaturalist is outpacing the rate at which the organisms can be identified. @callaghanct @thomasmesaglio &co call for more experts to identify organisms on iNaturalist #PLOSBiology

@aliceroberts I think some of us are hoping to be redeemed by Mastodon. Twitter was propelled by Brexit for me. Full of anger at the meaningless destruction of the U.K. post 2012. After Brexit now wreaks it’s inevitable havoc on peoples lives it is going to be difficult, but at least the arguments have stopped. And we can agree. We all lost.
A key thing I've learned about Mastodon: When you find people you know and want to keep up with, don't just follow them — add them to a list!
Merely following is not enough, b/c their posts may not show up in your feed at a time you're logged on. Unlike FB or Twitter, Mastodon has no algorithm to resurface your friends' posts from hours or days ago.
So create a list called "Friends" and check it when you're on. This will ensure that you see what they posted while you were away.
My niece went to the fab National Museum of Computing at Bletchley Park and found a game I wrote over 30 years ago running on an Amstrad PC.
Which resulted in me digging around for old source code for that and some adventure games I wrote. Hard to believe I wrote this code now...
#Herbaria are such collections. They store many many samples of usually dried and pressed plants. They are basically a #library of #plant #species.
Just like a #librarian, I need to keep order in the chaos, help scientists and visitors to get access or send material on loan. I also provide help to interpret old labels, and I update and reidentify the material.
This is where I work: the #herbarium at the #NaturalHistoryMuseum in London:
So, I am a #botanist. This means, I'm not a gardener (sorry, I can't help with your dying houseplants) but that I am trained to identify and name #plants. Applying the correct name to an organism is important. It's the same a calling a person with the correct name with the difference that plants aren't offended, but it could cause that you are poisoned, use the wrong medicine, grow the wrong stuff or make bad policies or business ideas and waste time and money.
Hi all: Less Twitter #migration and more Mastodon exploration. I’m a university professor, technology educator, data analyst, and futurist. I’m intrigued by all things #tech ; #data ; #programming ; #iot ; #ai ; #entrepreneurship ; #neuroscience ; #outdoors ; #biking ; #photography and many other things I have yet to discover! Filed under: #electrical #engineer currently living in a #business college world.
Greetings all! Ron here again. I would like to share more details about my research focus. This is the first of several toots I'll post introducing my reasons for being on Mastodon.
As an assistant professor, I focus mostly on signal and image processing in neuroscience applications. My platforms of choice are #FSL #SPM #EEGLAB #PsychoPy #MATLAB #R and #Python Programming. If you are working with these tools, feel free to "at" me any time if I can help or you know something interesting! I also have worked in #ComputationalNeuroscience, particularly in simulating neural networks with Hodgkin-Huxley equations. That was some years ago, but mathematical modeling never gets old!
I look forward to sharing my work with the community as well as learning more about what each of you are doing!

I may lack sufficient reach at this point to get meaningful responses to this poll, but here it goes... and please feel free to boost for reach!
Would you be interested in a free (virtual) #PsychoPy training workshop? If so, select your preferred option in the survey. You can also reply if you want me to "at" you with more details later.
I will be conducting training for my new research collaborators in early 2023 and could open it up to those outside the lab if there is sufficient interest.
Disclaimer: I'm NOT affiliated with PsychoPy and don't develop it, but I do use it.

#introduction
This should be my last introduction toot! I mentioned my professional focus (#neuroimaging #neuroscience signal analysis) in my last toot. Now, for my other non-research engagements...
I am a #maker who uses tools like #programming #arduino #msp430 #raspberrypi #electronics and #3dprinting to prototype fun projects. I have my own fleet of 3d printers and support equipment.
As a signal processing engineer, I'm also very interested in #sdr (software-defined radio). I'm working on two pet projects right now employing SDR and my maker tools for backyard #radio #astronomy and satellite signal reception. While not entirely novel end-goals, the work is very engaging and rewarding! I hope to package the results for science outreach in #steam in the near future.
Everyone should expect neuroimaging research toots from me as well as updates on my projects and resources for #STEM and #STEAM engagement in the classroom. I hope to contribute to #edutoot by sharing my demos, resources, and projects for bringing innovative thinking, science, and engineering into the classroom.
I love #biking and outdoor activities. I'm a novice in #photograpy (microscope as well as DSLR) and am looking for hints and suggestions for my entry into #astrophotography . Any advice? Let me know! I have a strong love of #fish and #aquariums, so expect my gushing about fish on occasion. I also have a pet parakeet, so expect some bird antics along the way! It can't all be work and seriousness, after all!
My interests/passions include theatre, physiotherapy, neurology, music, singing in a classical chorus, reading books, lively debate, dogs…
