Time algebra in #elixir https://kipcole9.github.io/tempo/2021-01-04-its-about-time/
I thought, for a moment, that the RAF worked to ridiculous levels of accuracy, but Jen Sparks quickly clarified that 'nm' actually stood for 'nautical miles'.

In many senses, I find #qoto sets high standards for communication in #fediverse. You have enabled connected services, allowed 65K characters, you have robust policy, we can use markdown in posts, and you are also very welcoming, responsive, and open community!
I've figured out what pisses me off so much about Facebook's Galactica demo.
It's not because people can use to to write bad essays for their homework. There are plenty of large language models that can do that. It's because Facebook is presenting it as something that it most definitely is not.
Facebook is selling it as a knowledge engine, a "new interface to access and manipulate what we know about the universe."
Actually it's just a random bullshit generator.
When #SoftwareEngineering authors write things along the lines of “the datasets […] are available from the corresponding author on reasonable request” or “due to non-disclosure agreements, we cannot disclose the data”, they either do not understand the possibilities and practices in #OpenScience or they simply do not care… or both.

@Hortense Sure, I don't see why not. I'm sure anyone can join as long as they follow the server rules. I mainly just joined so I'd see sciency stuff on my local timeline.
@Hortense idk if it's related at all, but I think I saw a couple of local toots about people making quilts with mathematical patterns. You might be able to look into that community.
@AFCIngen Elon's reply doesn't even make any sense. That's not how linear algebra works
@ceoln No problem. Lmk if you think of any in the future. It looks like you can get good WoW performance on #FrameworkLaptop but they don't mention their full specs: https://community.frame.work/t/question-gaming/6981/12
@ceoln I have a Framework with Linux Mint. I haven't had any graphics issues, but I've never used it for gaming. I can run some benchmarks if you want.
