I keep hearing this from more conservative circles, but have yet to see anything other than occasional forgetfulness, and his usual talking too much and the foot-in-mouth disease which he's always had. Nothing approaching senility. Feel free to supply the evidence though, happy to be educated. I think it's mainly the cherry-picking that both sides do. There's plenty of video where Trump is slurring words, misspeaking and has motor skill issues. I don't think any of this necessarily means either is incompetent.

@peterdrake @sdgathman @freemo @georgetakei seems like a straw man to say the other two choices are always evil. Usually the choice is between a mediocre choice and a bad choice. If you see both as equally bad then it’s no longer logical to not vote for your preferred candidate. I see Biden as mediocre and most republicans in the current crop as bad. You seem to see it differently.

@freemo @sdgathman @georgetakei @peterdrake Tactical voting is not due to a myth or poor decisions but people being practical and realizing that if they vote for the best (in their opinion) candidate that is polling poorly or otherwise unpopular they could be helping the devil (in their opinion) candidate get the win. It’s a rational choice given the system.

@freemo @georgetakei Welp, you're just a baby Jeffrey, third parties are just tantalizing baubles for the idealistic. If we had ranked voting you would be right and we would not have shitty results. Without it the best we can do is tactical voting, aka holding one's nose by voting for the less awful but still possible to win candidate.

@halfbit_@mastodon.social Is there really space for a new systems language that doesn't have compile time safety checks? I'm hopeful that Rust will inspire some new takes on this, with better ergonomics. But I have doubts that anything significantly better is possible.

@TruthSandwich Yeah he's abrasive, extreme, and an asshat, but I dunno what you could report him on other than being an abrasive extreme asshat. I guess that would work on some instances though. Me I'd just block or mute him.

@BigEatie I would start by examining syslog and Xorg logs in /var/log/ if there are no errors I dunno what would be next.

@lawmurray I will when I am near a desktop in a few days. I use // for both.

@lawmurray any plans to support doxygen c++ // style docs? Migrating a code base that uses that style would be tough going. Also I don’t like c comment style at all tbh.

@birnim@fosstodon.org @ramin_hal9001@emacs.ch Many of us using emacs ran into the limitations of vim. Myself after literally decades of use of vi derivatives ending in vim. So I think dismissing an emacs user’s opinion on vim and Bram is a bit off base. If you have something constructive to add to the conversation it would be great to hear it.
