@julesh where are your most obvious pain points with it? 2068 is quite a ways away, but do you see something on the horizon that you think needs to be addressed?

I tried to pull LaTeX into my employers work flow a few times, but it required a level of sophistication that my co-workers just were not comfortable with.

@Nonya_Bidniss Sorry, not willing to exchange my $15,000 battery for one with an unknown history. Charging times are not the big deal ICE drivers thing they will be.

Which party do you think is to blame if there is a government shut-down?

I wonder if Gov. would consider appointing Maxine Waters to fill vacant seat of the late Sen. ? I know lots of CA Dems are pusing for Barbara Lee, but she is a declared candidate for the office in the 2024 election, and I agree with Newsom's initial instinct to not give one of the declared candidates a huge leg up by making them the incumbent.

Nick Bloom of Stanford, probably the world authority on data-driven studies of the impact of remote work, delivers what is so far the definitive assessment of whether or not it’s a good idea.

Short answer: it can do wonders. Both hybrid and remote work, work.

But they require the right management and tools.

Managers who don’t know how to manage remote workers can ruin the experience for everyone.

@missy_lynn That kid needs to be recalled and spend a week in the shop for an attitude adjustment and mental tune up.

@garyackerman Is there anything that would better reflect students' knowledge of the curriculum? If not, is the entire project of formal education with diplomas and degrees [built on a foundation of sand](tearthepaperceiling.org/about-)?

You are confusing facts and feelings. I am telling you the facts. The fact is that aging happens and it effects people abilities in all sorts of ways. The fact is that President of the United States is not an easy or low stress job. The fact is that minor falls and common illnesses that barely phase younger people can kill people in their 80.

Knowing the difference between facts and feelings is also part of adult-101. So is facing those facts even when you wish they might be otherwise. You might say aging is the inconvenient truth that the Democratic Party is in denial about.

@joeinwynnewood My only member of congress whose seat is in question if the Senate seat held by the late Sen. Feinstein. I'd be interested in hearing who should replace her in 2025. Newsom is saying that he will not name any of the declared candidates to fill out the rest of her term so it will (hopefully) be an open seat.

If you think there is any reason to replace Rep. Jimmy Panetta you are welcome to say so, but he is the incumbent in a very safe CA-19 district.

@1dalm I do not mean to cast any undue shade on my former Senator. I strongly supported her senate campaign, and even backed her in the 2020 primary until she dropped out. However, there are a lot of people out there who don't think she can win a presidential election. I'm not sure those people are wrong.

@CindyS@masto.nu

I have grown the eff up. I've grown a hell of a lot of up. Ive grown up more than I want to effing admit. I've grown so far up that I now know that I don't need to be sick to feel my age. I'm some decades younger than Biden and Feinstein and I already know that age takes its toll. I very much hope to be in as good condition as Pres Biden when I reach 81, but I don't think I will be signing up for four more years of 24/7/365 responsibility.

@StillIRise1963

Yeah, well there is a good reason I use a generic profile picture instead of my face. More pleasant for everyone that way.

Look, people die when they get old. It is sad, and hard, but when you get to be my age and have said the final goodbye to too many family and friends, you start to realize that aging and death are facts we all must face, even -- perhaps especially -- politicians.At some point most people understand that it is time to stand aside and pass the world on to the next generation.

@StillIRise1963

The facts of human mortality are often not pleasant to look upon, but must be faced none the less.

@CindyS@masto.nu @McPatrick

If Pres. follows Sen in not surviving until the 2024 election, who will you vote for instead?

@CindyS@masto.nu

You write this on the very day that the late Sen. offered the ultimate proof of why there is such a thing as too old to run for office again.

@McPatrick @StillIRise1963

@yohannon I did my part. I tried to give her a good retirement the last two times she ran for Senate. Looking forward to a fresh face to represent a California that has become much more progressive then it's late senator.
