**Parallel Fates? Roma and Jews in the Nazi Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia**

"_Whereas Jews endured an almost relentless series of measures intended to segregate and isolate them, Protectorate authorities initially exerted considerable efforts to forcibly integrate Roma into the majority population through restrictions on movement and mandatory schooling._"

📚 A Personal Answer To The Lack Of Space For Books

Recently I noticed the ever decreasing amount of space in my home for more books. As a result I decided that I may have to obtain an electronic-reader. This was a difficult decision for me to take as an avowed 'Luddite' I had railed against such electronic paraphernalia your years. I decided that I would use the electronic reader for only light fiction books where intensely focused reading and note-taking are not the need of the hour. I searched studiously trying to find an electronic reader that met my needs and budget. During this time I remembered that a close family member had died a number of years ago and had left behind a third generation Kindle. I went looking to find the unit. After finding the reader and trying to bring it back to life I realised that its battery had given up a long time ago. Since then a new battery has been procured and I can report that it is working well. As a side note the reader is so old it cannot purchase books from the Kindle store. I am not intending to buy from the Kindle store so that is not a problem. What I am intending to use the reader for is to read fiction books that are in the public domain. In this manner I hope to reduce some of the space that books take up in my home. If you have the same problem how have you resolved the situation?

"_The UK has an internationally competitive research base, especially in its universities, albeit this is now under financial threat. There is a healthy and growing scene of start-ups and spin-outs; great progress has been made at their early stages. But the UK has been less effective both in scaling up companies that start in the UK and in diffusing new science and technologies across the economy. The result is a country with four of the top ten global universities, but only three of the top 100 industrial R&D spenders globally and none in the top ten._"
