@selea, it seemed so, but Freenode was benefiting the community until then, unlike Twitter has been (and still is) working for surveillance capitalism. Although I am glad that the acquisition made many people finally leave bird site, I don’t feel it is worth any mourning at all.

@selea, except that Freenode used to be run by volunteers while bird site has been a tool of mass surveillance for years? The acquisition can make it worse, but I’m baffled how people are acting as if Elon is ruining something pure and precious.
