@lolennui OMG that takes me back. I have not heard that in 30 years.

Precedents like the German government running a Mastodon server are important beyond the obvious reasons. They reinforce the urgency of serious public funding for open code.

If we treated open code as part of the essential infrastructure of the 21st century and funded it at billions of USD/EUR as opposed to tiny grants here and there, the "fediverse" model of interconnected, self-governing communities would become the norm, not the exception.

@willmabbitt Hi Will, As the Digital Tech teacher at our school I don't have a regular class of my own but I thought I would talk to the regular class teachers about a tour. It is well into term 4 here in NZ so everyone under the gun but hey...you have a new follower.

My profile background picture is Dalle 2's interpretation of a single plum floating in perfume served in a man's hat...Moe served it up without missing a beat...just like Dalle 2.

@trinsec yes your right. I wonder if I can edit that? Cheers.

Hello Mastodonia, I will be an consumer...and sometime contributer. Everyone else seems so much more qualified and interesting.

First photo. The tech angle is that I controlled the scoreboard at my son's basketball game. The good guys won.
