This is Ace! He is a buff orange tabby shorthair, and his portrait was painted with acrylics on canvas. Just finished this afternoon! This is the natural color scheme with solid color background. I think the blue complements the tan and beige of his fur.

Ooh! THIS is one of the biggest things I've been wishing the standard Mastodon interface has: hovering over someone's name brings up a card with their info and whether you follow them or not, or if they follow you. As simple as it may seem, this is a killer feature!

Some white folk like MlK for how he makes them feel: hopeful and absolved. Most Black folk like MLK for what he did for us: Voting Rights Act, shone light on injustices done to Black people.

If MLK joined Mastodon, some folks would tell him to CW his own mistreatment, then kick him off of his server, then subject him to targeted threats of violence, then when he left Mastodon to avoid abuse, would say it's because he craves followers and clout. 🤷🏿‍♂️

Fascinating and disturbing finding on how AI co-writing can influence opinion from Maurice Jakesh thesis research (h/t @natematias ). Jakesh had people write short essays using an AI tool like Google Autocomplete on whether social media was good or bad. When the tool pre-generated language supportive of social media (top bar), people were more likely to write essays with that opinion and vice versa (bottom bar).

Northern Flicker

I ran into this bird about a week ago. All I saw was a shape moving up a tree. I didn't know what it was until I look at the photos.
