Most US folk don't know about COINTELPRO, the FBI program that targeted Black civil rights leaders for false arrest, and yes, assassination. US folks don't know this, because it's not taught in schools. But Black kids know about COINTELPRO.

Most US folk don't know what a "Black Identity Extremist" is. Again, not taught in schools. If you joined a George Floyd BLM protest, there's a good chance you were investigated as a Black Identity Extremist. Again by the FBI. Black kids know this.

On both and , I get followed at least daily by accounts with generated-looking names, conventionally-attractive female profile pics, and (on tumblr) no posts or (on twitter) a few posts that are just pictures of women (sometimes completely different women).

What is up with these?? What is the scam? I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop, but nothing so far...

(On Twitter I remove them as followers on my main account, and let them accumulate on a backup account. On Tumblr I ignore them. Nothing has ever happened.)

@oldmankris

Good Lord.

I remember a handout on electricity that one of my kids got back in the day; it said that generators are "giant machines" and that batteries are a kind of generator.

The teacher was apparently just making it up based on their own general vague knowledge, rather than like looking at wikipedia or even a real curriculum.

I absolutely love good teachers. Unfortunately the system doesn't select for good ones terribly well.

See these words from @chockenberry, lead developer of Twitterific?

It's exactly what I said would happen when Elon Musk screwed over 3rd Party developers.

Twitter didn't create broad adoption of Twitter. It was 3rd party developers.

Now devs are pissed—much more than they were before.

So what will they do next?

Drive broad adoption of the Fediverse.

This isn't the only former Twitter developer making these moves. @tapbots is also making an app for the Fediverse.

Bad move, Twitter!

Historians,

I'm playing around with syllabus language to share with other faculty at my university regarding the use of AI in completing assignments. Would love your thoughts. #chatGPT #writing

Dr. Martin Luther King reminds us the arc of the moral universe is long but it bends toward justice.

May the wisdom of Dr. King inspire each of us to do our part in bending the world toward justice for all.

Rude anatomy words calligraphied

Testing J Herbin Emerald of Chivor ink on different paper types, I'll border them up later.

The colours and sheen seem to come through more on the textured Fabriano mixed media 250g paper than the smoother Canson Illustration.

'Pissflaps' is with the 2.4m Pilot Parallel with the converter, it flows heavier/thicker; the others are 3.0mm parallel with a filled normal cartridge, flows lighter.

Video in next toot!

The oldest public library in the Americas is the Palafoxiana Library (Biblioteca Palafoxiana) in #Puebla, #Mexico, founded in 1646 by the then Bishop of Puebla, Juan de Palafox y Mendoza (hence the name) to house his book collection. The beautiful hall of the Library was finished in 1773. The Library currently holds more than 41,000 items, including 9 incunnabula, among them a 1473 edition of the “Histories” of Herodotus.

Racists quoting Martin Luther King Jr. to make racist points is one of this era's most sickening features...

Silly action movie

A good "so terrible it was fun" I'd say, that one. Whereas The League one was more "kind of fun, but trying to be good, so the flaws were distracting".

"MANY!"

Okay, so that was funny.

(Also I don't understand why her clothes keep changing color, and why the camera thinks it's important. Well, I know, because it's very bad.)

Silly action movie

On the other hand, the NEXT movie I'm apparently watching is "Ultraviolet", which is a whole different category of inexpressibly bad.

I mean, the last scene had the bad guys in a LITERAL circular firing squad.
