:) Sure, there are horrible things happening in those states; it's just that the good people trapped in those states are just as morally relevant as the good people outside those states who are suffering from the states' actions. You know!
Bookshops never check who you are if you offer to sign books… they’re such a trusting bunch. One day I’ll sign someone else’s.
Anyway, these by me are now signed, also by me, in the lovely Waterstones Bristol.

I think that's actual voters, and therefore leaves out votes suppressed in various ways? But even if it was only 35% of everyone, I'm not willing yet to abandon them.
I don't blame people who are dependent on Twitter to promote their work for staying on the platform as long as is feasible for them. The platform's facing a hostile takeover, but the alternatives are:
- platforms nothing like Twitter
- tiny VC-funded startups that look destined to collapse
- platforms made by FOSS nerds that hate virality
And even if there were suitable replacements, they still have a lot to lose by moving and forcing their followers to do the same. It's a real problem.

Only a small majority (if that) of the actual humans in those states are of that "different culture" imho. I'm not yet willing to abandon all the rest, or tell them to move...

At least this thoroughly disproves the whole "economic anxiety" thing... 🤦🏻
No wonder the writing and reading environment of the web in 2022 is so awful. We ignore the writers and the readers.
Imagine a society that decides to demand as a philosophical principle that societal systems don’t really exist, or that systems exist but can’t be changed, all so they don’t have to spend time or effort or convenience or expense on combating viruses.
What must we assume about such a society?
There has never been a better time in our nation's history for a social media platform like Mastodon to emerge. One that is free from billionaires, government control, and with defenses up against hate and disinformation.
The cause for truth, justice and equality has never been more under attack than it is now; and all signs are that this will continue.
We must continue to be a voice for good, Democracy, truth, equality and freedom.
