I have changed my avatar ("avatar") on http://pixelfed.social/@ceoln , because it turns out to be confusing to have the same one for multiple accounts that interact sometimes.
Isn't he great?

Interesting! Ty for sharing, I have never accidentally had too much ginger before. :)
Very pleased to have this poem published in an anthology in aid of https://sleeppod.org.uk/ - a charity providing portable shelters for homeless people and refugees.
The book was inspired by the #WritingPrompt 'If I were a house', provided by #FromOneLine , and showcases some wonderfully creative writers 🙂
#Introduction. #Pt2 'A work in progress'. Some more backstory. Never properly settled anywhere. Consequently tramping comes easily to me. I am now in temporary lodgings in North East Kent. Suburban counties are not my preferred habitat but I adapt. My landlord is quite charming in an absent minded professorial way. On his shelves I have come across 'Wouldn't take nothing for my journey now' by Mary Angelou. (cotd #Pt3)
Time to make my formal #introduction!
Hi there, I'm Bwee!
I'm either 39 or 40 depending when you read this. I live near Ottawa in Canada, but on the Quebec side in Gatineau. I reside in a nifty apartment with my mate Wah, two cats, over a dozen arachnids (mostly tarantulas), and a ball python.
I'm basically just a cute fluffy dragon on the internet, doing my best to uplift my friends and spread genuine positivity while also fighting for what's right.
I love most people, so don't be shy!!
Do you know what I see when I look at you?
I see someone that works hard and tries to take care of those they love. I see someone who is worthy of all the love they could ever receive. I see someone who, despite all odds, manages to be themselves and celebrate their "weird" side.
You are so awesome, my friend. You are beautiful inside and out and you deserve to see yourself the way those who love you see you. Thank you for doing what you do to bring love, light and happiness to this world. 💙
I’m pretty good at this writing thing, maybe I should do it professionally https://t.co/h959yB0HbS
So! After 30 minutes at a nominal 170F (the lowest this oven goes), the slices of peeled ginger were somewhat drier, but still flexible. Two additional 30 minute periods at the same nominal temperature produced no discernible further change, so I just minced them up rather fine and dumped them into the batter.
The recipe called for 2 tsp of ground ginger; I used probably 3-4 tsp, loosely packed, of minced slightly-dried fresh ginger root.
(A reader kindly linked me a recipe that calls for the ginger to be finely grated or "microplaned" and then made into a sort of paste; probably a good idea for next time, although also might involved work.)
The result is quite good! Not amazingly gingery, but somewhat, and so far there have been no confirmed reports of obvious bits of ginger causing an undesirably nonhomogenous eating experience.

THE VERY THING THANK YOU!
Or if you want it put another way, every American is spending in the order of $50 a year in direct lethal assistance to Ukraine, but losing about $1700 a year in indirect economic costs caused by that war.
If you had a company that sold a widget that upped a business cost from $50 to, let's say, $100, but doing so saved the customer $1700 a year, how quickly do you think VCs in Silicon Valley would jump in to invest in that widget?
#lifeHack : do you have a nearly empty container of something a sticky but delicious, like #honey, or #molasses? Do you drink #coffee?
In that case, what you do is, cause your coffee emitter to emit the coffee into the nearly empty container, swish it around a few / many times, and then dump that into your usual coffee mug or whatever! Now you have coffee with the flavor of something sticky but delicious! And the nearly empty container will be much easier to clean.
This also works with hot chocolate, and to a degree with tea, depending on exactly your attitude toward tea. Probably hot milk too come to think of it.
For #FossilFriday check out this gorgeous #fossil #insect! This 49 million year old beauty is Pulchritudo attenboroughi, a #beetle found in the rocks of the Green River Formation, Colorado. what's particularly striking about this fossil is the pattern on its wing cases.
