This one I call "Starry Night Memories". It is 48" x 48" #oiloncanvas. I had fun seeing how many of Vincent's iconic images I could work into his most iconic painting. #vangogh #vangoghtributepaintings #starrynight #artist
Hi! I'm completely new to the #fediverse so #introductions are in order.
I'm an avid amateur photographer and currently moving my work to Pixelfed. If you have a minute, check me out at https://pixelfed.social/Ten-80pixels
I love a good story, and especially love everything #scifi. I'm big time into #making and #3dprinting aswell. As the polymath that I am, I constantly find myself in front of a new irresistible topic. The most recent being online #privacy . That should take a while :)
Exited to be here!

I really think we need to reject the term "content creator."
That phrase is used by people who aim to Monetize™ us without needing to care about what it is we create. A "content creator" is there to make the stuff that attracts people so they can be fed advertising.
Call us what we are. Artists. Essayists. Film makers. Authors. Photographers. And so many others. We are creators, yes, but what we create has so much value beyond filling otherwise empty space on a website.
I recently did a massive redesign of a 3d printed magnetic stirrer I designed a few years back. Here's a brief writeup showing what changed (and why) and the evolution of the design process. https://www.cartesiancreations.com.au/design-revising-the-magnetic-stirrer/
Apropos of nothing, here are a few recent screenshots from #GenshinImpact that I took while playing.
I noticed my daughter’s screenshots tended not to have the controls overlaid, so I poked around and realized I could have my character carry a “kamera” and take unadulterated shots.
Happy National Mathematics Day!
Today we celebrate the beauty and power of numbers and the endless possibilities they bring. Whether you're a math enthusiast or just appreciate its practical applications, take a moment to appreciate the role math plays in our lives.
I am celebrating the solstice, the shortest day of the year, winter arrival, at -40ºC/-40ºF in my stunning winter wonderland and creating warmth in this powerfully cold temperature. My friend Maria Cherwick added a Unkraian fiddle tune alongside my drum. I'm sending warmth and joy to the world. Watch on YouTube: https://youtu.be/XWiT5NA_3Z8
Last summer, Dr. Adrian Smith joined me in the field to capture video of the excavation of an undescribed species of burrowing crayfish. Three hours of digging (we were in the middle of a dry spell), untold numbers of mosquito bites, and a wee bit of caked on mud later I got one. And Adrian’s footage of it was magical; check out the video on his AntLab YouTube channel here:
This is the crayfish I dug that day. It’s a gorgeous form of Cambarus reduncus, the Sickle Crayfish. Using an integrated approach, we have discovered a lot of “hidden” diversity in North Carolina and South Carolina in this group of crayfishes (Depressicambarus), which includes both secondary and primary burrowing species. Finding the animals can be the most challenging aspect of this work! 📸 Michael A. Perkins, NCWRC. #crustmas #crayfish #crustacea
