There are four schools of thought that each have their own ideas on how scientific peer review can be improved. Wolfgang Kaltenbrunner, @stephenpinfield, Helen Woods and I have revised our paper on this topic doi.org/10.31235/osf.io/v8ghj. We have also created a visualization that summarizes the key tensions between the four schools. We are grateful to the reviewers of our paper for their very useful feedback.

Hey! Im a researcher of host-microbe interactions with a focus on bees! My research group is based at the Silwood Park campus of Imperial College London. We're particularly interested in exploring how microbes transmit & what their impact is on pollinator systems. Where possible we try to employ new techniques or combine multiple cutting-edge processes at once.

Last night at #ASI2022Mel we celebrated 25 years since Peter Doherty and Ralf Zinkernagel won the Nobel prize for Medicine for their 1973 discovery of MHC restriction - one of the most fundamental concepts of #TCell #immunology.
Words of wisdom from both these two Laureates: “Don’t believe anything you read in a paper, do the experiment”

Shazam! Here is the reveal: ant pupae secrete their molting fluid, and larvae and adults consume it. This creates interdependencies across different ant developmental stages. Thanks also to all our collaborators at the various resource centers @RockefellerUniv! twitter.com/OrliSnir/status/15

This is unbelievably cool 🐜

"So let me say two things immediately about the now-published results for lecanemab, the latest attempt at anti-amyloid antibody therapy for Alzheimer’s. I think that both of these are true: the numbers are the best that I have yet seen for such an antibody, and at the same time I doubt if the drug will actually make a difference in the treatment of ’s."

#introduction I am an evolutionary biologist interested by the origins of life and evolutionary transitions in individuality #ETI. I do #theory inspired by #ExperimentalEvolution.

I'd like to understand how living systems emerge and change scale.

I enjoy various approaches such as #Math #Models (#StochasticProcess, #DynamicalSystems, and #AdaptiveDynamics in particular), #PhilosophyOfScience, #Bioinformatics and #Dataviz.

I am a #FOSS and #OpenScience enthusiast. Nice to meet you all !

Outside of lab, I love playing soccer and printmaking (current project is screen-printing images of my brain on any fabric I can find!)

Excited to get started here with an !

I'm currently a PhD candidate in the Neuroscience Graduate Group (NGG) at the University of Pennsylvania. My work sits at the intersection of systems and computational neuroscience, exploring how environmental volatility affects decision-making behavior and its neural correlates.

In addition to collecting and exploring data, I love , , and . Finding ways to build a common understanding of concepts brings me so much joy.

Outside of work, I love , , , and absolutely anything involving my dog, Moe.

I'm looking forward to engaging on here!

In #JapaneseFolklore there is a belief that objects can develop a spirit or soul once they reach advanced age. This usually happens around their 100th birthday and it can be seen as a reward for their years of service. The objects are thereafter known as #tsukumogami, a type of #yokai which basically means 'tools that have acquired a spirit.' If they have been neglected or treated badly they may not be much fun to have around.

This is the first time I see the subject of my studies - #telomeres. Thanks to my colleague and friend Sara Sandin’s team, telomeres were captured by cryo-EM in human cells as little spheres of chromatin lying just under the nuclear membrane. Science is wonderful! academic.oup.com/nar/article/5
