It's going to get scary.

"Researchers at Carnegie Mellon University were able to create full-body images of subjects using simple Wi-Fi routers. The technology could revolutionize healthcare, security, gaming, imaging, and many other industries. However, it could present many privacy issues as the technology can monitor people's movements through walls without their knowledge or consent. The technique involves analyzing the amplitude and phase of Wi-Fi signals to find interference and then using AI algorithms to produce an image."
@Aetous @gamingonlinux This is a common refrain but not entirely true. Yes, you can technically achieve record-keeping with a low-cost database transaction. But that misses the entire point of Blockchain. It's not a 'better database'. It brings singularity, security, built-in integrity, decentralization, and (when done right) independence of the product and data from the originating developer.

I just heard Sinead O'Connor's "Take Me to Church" for the first time and it's really good. No idea how I missed that one. #NowPlaying

What features people would most like to see on Mastodon or a Fediverse social app -- either for themselves or to get friends who are not yet here to adopt the platform? I set up an open, unofficial Google Doc as a way to collect ideas -- please add and share! https://docs.google.com/document/d/1EnkjkSW14hR_uTdwEW7vqRaaIXDMlNQ4WRNoPmnn_z0/edit?pli=1#heading=h.3h2qft5aqfrb
(There's an official Github feature request forum linked in the doc that actually reaches Team Mastodon -- this is intended to be a more open/brainstormy space.)
@gamingonlinux There is an entire market for them which would beg to differ. But setting aside NFTs (the low-hanging fruit of Blockchain applications), the Blockchain tech itself could have some really interesting applications for gaming. I am particularly interested in the idea of in-game permanence and long-term tracking of a players impact on a living world.
#Halifax nurses, is it true that you have no access to free coffee at your workplace?
@GrimmReality
There's a lot to unpack here.
@mxhdroom
@MetalheadDana It's honestly a fascinating and nuanced subject to me. There is a cultural divide in the workplace between those like yourself and those who, conversely, need / want to introduce positive social dynamics into their work life.
I really don't like ReactJS. It might be the best we have but that's not great. It feels like stacks and stacks of hacks to compensate for poorly planned architecture decisions -- a lot like JavaScript really. #programmming #webdev #shotsfired
I once worked for a company that had a Hawaiian Shirt Day completely unironically, as though none of them had ever even seen Office Space.

Woh! All of these are new to me. Thanks. I've got some #metal research to do.
