#Mastodon certainly has the functionality to replace #Twitter but from the average mainstream user's perspective, understanding the ideas behind federation of services, selecting an instance etc are not only irrelevant, but tedious TMI. Not everyone values these things. For most of Twitter, they want a single URL, a login and a password they have to enter once.

People at my workplace this week were making jokes about Drum 'n' Bass being harsh. Ironically, there was a facebook discussion about some of the most beautiful / haunting #neurofunk and Drum 'n' Bass tracks throughout the genre's history on one of my Facebook groups. I compiled some of the songs that were nominated into a single playlist of the most beautiful, haunting and classic Drum 'n' Bass tracks.

I recently read something about how all our energy crises could be addressed cheaply, safely and sustainably by gravity drives installed in old mines. What I didn't read was any mention of anyone actually getting started on this.

Unpopular Opinion: I have no idea why everyone raves about "Everything Everywhere all at Once". For me, it was a 2 hour version of the "Turn Down for What" video with a ridiculous premise and some low-brow body humour thrown in. #movies

I just read a review for a television show which said "It doesn't punch down to religion." It struck me as a completely irrational assertion. Is it even possible to *punch down* to one of the most powerful cultural institutions in every society across the planet?

I don't feel any particular need to abandon #Twitter but my tweets there are getting fewer naturally as #Mastodon becomes increasingly populated with interesting folks. I will admit, however, that Elon's recent decision to close the API to third party apps, has made it significantly less interesting to me as a user and as a #programmer.

It's going to get scary.

It's interesting to me to see how far Starbucks has aesthetically fallen (or perhaps deliberately changed) from premium cafe in the 90s and early 2000s to something that is only a colour scheme away from Dairy Queen or Burger King in both atmosphere and product line.

I just heard Sinead O'Connor's "Take Me to Church" for the first time and it's really good. No idea how I missed that one. #NowPlaying
