Can't wait for this show, tomorrow evening. Spooky historical sci-fi drama from the makers of Dark. #1899Netflix

Incidentally, to access an RSS feed, simply add .rss after the URL. E.g. https://qoto.org/@davoloid.rss
That worked very well in fact!
Although I'm not sure how often #PowerAutomate polls the server and if that has an impact, so I have switched off to save adding to @freemo woes!
Today in #WorkingOutLoud I am following the Power Apps learning pathways and testing flows (including this toot which should trigger an entry to an excel spreadsheet via RSS of my feed)
Excellent video produced by a local history group on the Ladybower Reservoir in the park District. Local voices and archive footage spliced with maps. Really well put together.
Woken up after the targeted launch time of @NASA's #Artemis1, but thankfully (for me) they're still working some issues and are about to do a go/no-go poll. Launch could be 10 minutes away!

Hello, all! I have a book coming out in March 2023 called "More Than a Glitch: Confronting Race, Gender, and Ability Bias in Tech." You can preorder it now here: https://mitpress.mit.edu/books/more-glitch
The hardcover is available everywhere *except* Amazon rn due to... a glitch.
Super interested in the Coalition for Independent Tech Research so I'm going to think out loud about power dynamics and influence in research for a moment https://independenttechresearch.org/manifesto-the-coalition-for-independent-technology-research/
firstly, I am totally aligned on the overall aims; it's great to see thoughtful organising around this because I 💯agree that big tech money distorts research and this doesn't get enough push back. Brilliant to see that addressed head on and congrats to everyone involved.

Evan Prodromou, who helped inspire & create the #ActivityPub protocol that makes @Mastodon run, called this recent #Twittermigration a “tipping point”.
“I have not been this excited about federated social networks since we published ActivityPub. The shift has started. … We’re doing this. Don’t be on the wrong side of history.” @evan

Neighbourhood meeting fracas.
Not surprised that a local meeting to discuss a proposed road closure scheme descended into chaos, Police called, fire alarm pulled, meeting cancelled on Police advice. Despite disruption of previous schemes, lack of evidence of effectiveness the council did not read the room.
People were already angry that for 30 years traffic has been displaced from affluent areas onto peripheral streets, so this was never going to be received as an "early consultation", especially when people most directly impacted by the scheme were not notified.
Opening with "well disabled people might have to get out of their cars" is also never a good opener.
As one old dear said to me "How much is this costing? There are people struggling because of cuts and this is just a waste."
@martin_hamilton @jamespjh With the amount of outreach and science dissemination we churn out, we really ought to be investing in this. After all, "Grand Challenges", "Change the World" and all that jazz.
@martin_hamilton I pitched this to #ucl_isd last week. Not won yet!
@jamespjh running an instance under a ucl.ac.uk domain may be the most effective way to establish a formal #UCL presence. See the Internet Archive for an example: https://mastodon.archive.org/explore
Just another worried little citizen of this modern-day Pompeii. Techie at UCL, working on Process Automation with MS Power Platform. Scatterbrain, interested in education, languages, Space and lots of disparate things. sorry.
Keeping my space toots at @astrodad as an experiment in self-moderation :)
