Academics who are on GitHub, consider upvoting this excellent suggestion from @Edent (see link below).

The suggestion is to change the code used by ORCID's website to allow Mastodon verification links to be found. This would allow Mastodon users with an ORCID page to verify that they are the author of the publications listed on their ORCID page.

Ok, I joined. What's the physiological relevance ?

Deadline tomorrow! We are hiring postdocs for two projects. One seeks to reveal how neural activity is structured in brainwide patterns to support diverse behaviors in mice. The other aims to relate the activity of a single neuron with that of thousands of presynaptic and postsynaptic neurons across the mouse cortex (w Alipasha Vaziri and Federico Rossi). We are interested in people with diverse backgrounds, not only those with specific experience. tinyurl.com/CortexlabPostdoc. #neuroscience

Hey #neuroscience #neurotech #neurodon

I'm very excited about a truly distributed community for #neuroscience.

Let's make it easier for new folks (and #twitterexodus #twittermigration) folks to plug into the #neurodon community!

Please add your Mastodon information to this importable community list: forms.gle/sWZyxMGsNefy3kzr5

Trying things out. I will be posting mainly #neuroscience. So here is a question. What is the most important thing we need to be able to do to understand the principles on which brains work?

#GradSchool folks and future #GradStudents:
I started a list of US #PhD programs that *guarantee* full rotation support for students who need to switch labs. This is an important #inclusion, retention, and equitymeasure.
To add a program, reply to this post or add a comment to the GSheet at the following link. Let's make this a standard feature of PhD training! 👊

Bothered by ticks? Check this out! Ticks (and mosquitoes) really dont like nootkatone, the chemical that gives grapefruit its distinct smell. This will likely be the next big "bug" repellent on the market, and we are trying to figure out how it works. Love it when behavioral data looks like this!

Hello! A brief - I’m an Asst Prof at Boston Children’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School. I study organizational principles of . We study underlying , , and across species. We also develop methods for synapse-resolution . Looking forward to learning more!

Hi fediverse, boosts appreciated. This is my #introduction. I am a #Palaeolithic #archaeologist studying the evolution of human diet throughout the Pleistocene. I use #zooarchaeology to investigate how human diet changed throughout time and especially during the time frame of the last #Neanderthals and first Homo sapiens. Also, avid #rstats and #tidyverse user (but still learning).

#Introduction It’s nice to see so many familiar and new folks here! :ablobcathappypaws:

I do #DataScience (aka #Statistics) and #RStats programming—previously in psychology and communications research in academia and social service agencies. Currently on the job market and seeing where that takes me.

I like to empower others when I can, so you’ll often find me in the comments helping out or passing on resources myself or others have made.

I look forward to building a community here with you!

@kristinmbranson @qoto.org I spent some time exploring qoto TL and boy was it a sweet ride. Mastodon >> Twitter for me so far (still being cautiously optimistic). Thanks for amplifying this server for migration!

Neuroscientists
- literally do brain surgery
- perform complex analyses of high-dimensional neurophysiology data
- code in MedState notation
- get mice to bury marbles

My #introduction - I am an immigrant #scientist supporting professional development of graduate students and postdocs for academic thriving & diverse career goals, and broadly think about Grad Ed reforms. Prior to this life, was RNA biologist.

Hope to build (and learn from) a vibrant and supportive #academicMastodon #scimastodon community, similar to one I found on #AcademicTwitter #ScienceTwitter .

More wisdom from my 10yo:

Use the Free/Open Source METATEXT app (iOS)
Twitter-like UI, more user-friendly than the official app.

RT @anandi_krishnan
AND.. We can simply import a CSV of our current followers with 'merge' into the Mastodon account! twitter.com/anandi_krishnan/st
twitter.com/anandi_krishnan/st

With happening, two resources I've found:
(1) twitodon.com: register with them to link your twitter and mastodon accounts. Then it will find (and output an importable .csv of) the mastodon addresses of all of your twitter follows that have registered with them. The more of us that register, the better it works.
(2) fedifinder.glitch.me/: put your mastodon address in your twitter bio. Then fedifinder will find all your twitter follows (or followers, or lists) who have put their mastodon address in their twitter bio, and output a .csv of them as above.
(To import the csv: edit profile -> import and export -> import, and be sure that 'merge' is clicked.)

#NeuroscienceMigration friends, I hope you will find yourselves migrating at 9pm on Monday November 14 to #sfnbanter22 at Sidebar (536 Market Street) in San Diego during #SfN2022 🧠✨🎉🍸
