I'm Chris, a POC from a US ghetto, worked as a social worker and STEM teacher for poor, homeless, immigrant and largely non-white kids in America's inner-city slum. I'm a one-person indie game dev, and my games are personal reflections of my experiences.
I've been doing gamedev for 25+ years, my largest project to date is Neofeud, a cyberpunk adventure game. I made it while teaching full time, and homeless, w/ my wife and kids living in the back of a Mazda Tribute. Cuz America.
I do relish a little too much when I get something to compile. I think this is a great statement especially for me.
“At this point in the cycle, you might feel that simply getting your program to compile without errors and running it without crashing your computer means you are done. However, you are not. You must verify that what you think your program was supposed to do is what it actually did do. Did your program solve the problem it was intended to? Is the result correct?” - Jeff Szuhay, Learn C Programming
@nova my companion team is hiring a #kubernetes engineer. The broader team is really cool plus people get to hang out with me which I think is neat

So in my sparetime I have been writing this open-source game, a mmorpg called a MUD (no graphics in the typical sense, all ncurses based).
Anyway, I never would have thought the most complicated part of writing the game engine would have possibly been the handling of pronouns! The number of variations you have to consider is astounding when you really try to catalog all the different types.
I think I finally got them all covered though.

@derickflorian I'd send you some bitcoin to cover it, but I seem to have lost my wallet...
@bluehazy Now we’re talking! Much better than coffee and donuts.
@derickflorian
Can't beat a cup of tea and a slice of cake. 🍵🍰
@hasmis 😂 My check for your gift is in the mail too!
@JensHannemann I will have to look out for east frisian tea! I have not even heard of it. I will also check at the tea store at the mall near me. Maybe the owner would be able to order it if they don’t have it. I need to buy more from there because every time I go to the mall I nervously check if they are still around but then don’t buy anything. :)
@hasmis Haha, thanks, Harold! Is this the start of qoto secret santa exchange lol
@dimi I will write that down. I have had rooibos in the past and remember liking it! That looks like a good non-caffeine choice.
From googling it I like how both the tea and the honey are coming from the same geographic area.
@trinsec @derickflorian (Don't want to intrude but have to recommend rooibos/red bush tea and fynbos honey.)
@trinsec I will try that combo and I will have to bug you as I explore more teas!
@derickflorian I absolutely love me some acacia honey in my teas. So much so that I just can't stand the default flower honey anymore, heh.
In fact, I'll go make me a simple ceylon tea now with lots of the good acacia-y stuff.
@WilliamsStrangeFest Which is good but in a way the threat they pose will just adapt and be more subtle for a while.
Thanks, @trinsec!! I have so much to learn. I’m just now realizing there are different types of honey.:) This could be a deep rabbit hole. I will start with Acacia honey as the favor profile looks delicious and I guess it is good at being mixed with liquid.
Just broke into software development. Currently struggling to grasp C!
