@realcaseyrollins @NekoAmps You can Mute the conversation, but if it's bad enough, they will poke you back in new threads for spite.
Best to be away from evil people imo.
@realcaseyrollins LOL, I like it too.
Our new Spanish members are an active bunch, although not as much locally, but we can try and establishing some conversations with them too.
Miss some really nice users, like @Full_marx
@realcaseyrollins "FakeNews"for me is the Facism's current way of trying to discredit opposition and legitimate media, information, without any real argument or discussion.
The person most in the spot light in the current Fascism movements is a regrettable choice, imo. Shocking that people fall for such base level arguments and manipulation.
@realcaseyrollins That site is on my radar screen too - we had users reporting their content.
I am not pleased with what I saw there, lewd things with children images. Borderline criminal, imo.
Luckily we have the option and the power to fully block any instances as Users - and I do use that.
Will prepare a blog post on Content Filtering and Blocking, my To Do list is merciless, but I like to have those done.
@realcaseyrollins The discussion is open for hashtag suggestions. Ideal if we can find a nice and easy, catchy one.
Too common a word links in unrelated content. At TW, we share the #slowly tag with many unrelated things and people who are clueless and just add a # to every word (a detestable feature on Insta).
So, we can work on getting a nice one - I think maybe two short words might avoid this un-related content beign caught in the net.
@realcaseyrollins Putting in my full days and doing different things.
* writing is a passion, and my blog is very satisfying. Goal, one new post a day, it takes a toll since I am always picky with my work.
* fedi presence is a fun trip. Now in various locations and learning everyday.
* building up communities is the most important part of a staff person in any organization, and I do my best, not only here at Qoto, but wherever my various accounts are present.
@realcaseyrollins You are unbelievable, Casey. Way to go.
Now, do you get enough sleep to keep up both the social media and Fedi presence, and the academic life?
That is some energy. 👍
@SecondJon That is a quick summary yes.
Some call this attack an Act of War, which seems legit. Expect a response.
Israel sits on a large and undisclosed nuclear arsenal. Middle East is listed as location for Armageddon, so...
Potentially NSFW
@notcaseyrollins @realcaseyrollins OMG, you re replicating fast!!
Famous Last Words, say to me as a curious Fedi person noted my extending into other and other instances. Fun too.
@Kike5550 Buens, Kike, muy linda esa foto. Gracias! Donde és ?
@QuimChaves Hola, Joaquim, bienvenido a Qoto y al Fediverso.
I speak English mostly, but Spanish is good to practice and improve my fluency.
Hope you enjoy your time here - do you need a guide?
If you are new to using Mastodon, there's a good guide here: https://lifehacker.com/a-beginner-s-guide-to-mastodon-1828503235
We also have another new users guide, posted here : https://write.tedomum.net/rgx/suggestions-and-guidelines-for-new-users-written-by-mastodon-art-administrator
Casey Rollins made a video to explain the Fediverse, here :

@freemo Much more to come. LOL...
I knew it was gonna be a rough one.
@realcaseyrollins @angedestenebres Awesome -- glad to hear from a first hand experience like that, thanks Casey.
I would suggest Pinafore for anyone, it works in any op system, but the original request from someone here (which Ange responded to, linking to her guide) was for a Stand alone client; running without a browser.
I tried one that is listed as Desktop, standalone, seemed interesting but never got running for me in Windows.
Besides the awesome Pinafore ( https://pinafore.social or https://pina.todon.nl ), there's Halcyon (https://www.halcyon.social/ or https://halcy.todon.nl ).
Interesting! Out of the three, I have used two. I strongly recommend Whalebird for Linux, it works quite well and also offers desktop notifications, IIRC.
Hyperspace is an interesting case. As an anti-censorship nerd and free speech advocate, I don't think I can recommend it, as it bans @gab. However, the user experience is good, if a little unpolished and buggy (if your instance doesn't support trends, for example, and you click "What's Happening", the whole window will go blank and you can't do anything. It should be fine for users who don't use #Gab or interact with people there though.
@realcaseyrollins Yes, true -- I haven't used the function yet but remember seeing it being possible.
Something that crossed my mind -- a skilled programmer could develop a small bot to scan topics with the tag, and add all those, with a snippet for each (title, image, in a collapsed post forma) to a daily review.
I posted in the forum suggesting that a Guppe Group could work, but all replies would likely include the group tag, and end up showing in the group too. That's less ideal, since it would make for harder reading.
But I am sure someone with the tech skill could create a script to solve this; something like the one that lists the post of the day here at Qoto is a lot more complicated than this, I imagine.
Ange posted a nice review of possible Mastodon Clients under Linux, as usual a well written and illustrated piece.
Merci, Ange! Le originel est ici : https://tugaleres.com/2019/03/23/clients-pc-pour-mastodon/

@angedestenebres, well done.
@Vz01 Hey 😺
This is in French but you have 3 clients for mastodon : https://tugaleres.com/2019/03/23/clients-pc-pour-mastodon/
@ghostdancer Ah, the credit for creating Guppe Groups is not mine, I just made used the ssoftware and created the group for the Book Club, plus these two posts to show people how it works.
The project is William's, located at https://github.com/wmurphyrd/guppe
I haven't used GNUsocial, and it's nice if it supported the group creation and usage. It's one of the best thing in Facebook, the groups; some are quite informative and active.
@el_rafa Ah, that's fine then. Wasn't sure since you have the El Rafa nickname here, lol So here are my pointers for English guides.
