Trying out something new -- Friendica
And once the post is SHARED (posted), it gets added to the list of all post in your User Profile.

Once you have uploaded images, you can select any of them in teh Browser tab.
That will place link text into the post editor box -- at the location you were currently typing. So place your cursor in the right place, before clicking on the image.
A Preview of the post, this one already using most of the Text Formatting options and an inserted Image follows.

You can upload images similarly; thru the Browser (which means, look at my resouces) tab. Click on Image (little landscape icon).
It will show any images you already have.
- Either on your Profile itself (avatars).
- Or in your Timeline posts.
There's an UPLOAD button, you use it to add new images to your account.
Later, any of those can be selected and entered into posts.

Uploading and attaching files is also possible, and easy too.
It can be done via the post editor.
- Click on the last tab on the right.
- select files via the highlighted button on my image.
-click on Upload and you can select the files you want.
Later, these files will be available to be attached to any message you write.

While in the text editor, you can easily clink on the Tabs at the top of the editor to:
- Set or Change permissions.
- Get a Preview of what your post will look like!
I am really liking this - text formatting even done lightly can really emphasize words or meaning.

While in Mastodon instance posts we don't have ANY option of text formatting, here in Friendica, the post editor already hints it's different -- just look at the Bold[, Italic, Underline buttons below! :)
Aha! And the formatting is done using the super easy BBCode, which anyone who spent time in Forums will instantly feel familiar with.
Nice!

Thanks to the nice administrator who created this server, we can create an account without messing up a live and active server instance.
And learn without feeling embarrassed! 😜
Go on, find out how it is, write that first post. Hello World!!
(the admin who runs this site also has two other full fledge nodes, both open to registration, free service.)
The screen cap below shows my user profile 'home' with my first post.
Honestly have to say that I did not RTFM (read the friendly manual) yet, but am investigating the basics and posting things here as I find them out. 😉
Trying out something new -- Friendica
after registering an account, the server has some extensive documentation to guide new users, see it at : https://tryfriendica.de/help/Quick-Start-guide
There's detailed info, you just need a quiet time to read, try things out and learn how this works.
Trying out something new -- Friendica
It seems to be a quiet time today here at Qoto. 😺
Since there's not so many replies to be written, new posts to be followed, I am taking the time to look at another Fediverse network area I had seen mentioned. It's called Friendica.
Basic info: https://friendi.ca/about/
And it seems interesting - the main idea being that information on it is organized and displayed in a way similar to the Facebook site. Without all the algorythm massaging and massive advertising that floods the timelines there.
I am attaching a screenshot below, from the Friendica's Screenshots page. Visit and take a look around; https://friendi.ca/about/screenshots/
So, to start with, you will have an account, edit your profile, etc. And if you find new friends there, their posts will show in your timeline. Friendica also supports connecting to other networks and even places like Blogs, to export or import content.
I have looked at the directory of instances in the Friendica network and there's one specially for Trying it out.
Your account there will be deleted after a week or two of testing, by then you should know if you want a permanent account or not.

In my hour of darkness, he is standing right in front of me
speaking words of wisdom, let it be
_______
I never liked "Let it be," still don't. So I was puzzled when the tune began playing over and over in my head in mid-October.
In a context of grief, I can only theorize that something in my sub-conscious demanded acknowledgment of the song lyrics. I can't recall anything like this happening before, probably won't happen again.
I construed it as a good omen when I discovered a Venn diagram about "Let it be" here in the local feed.
I still don't know what to make of a graphic image showing "Let it be" at the core of Venn or Euler intersections. But at least the tune isn't on a constant re-play loop in my thoughts.
There is a common phrase in Japanese which is similar -- usually translated to mean "it can't be helped" or "nothing can be done about it" (shikata ga nai 仕方がない; shō ga nai しょうがない)

I've noticed that it's customary to thank followers. But I haven't done it before now
I didn't understand that every kind of feedback in this Humblr site is like a link in the chains I'm struggling with -- slowly
I don't think much about the size of my chain -- or the number of my followers. But I know each of the links in chains are important in ways I need to figure out. This I do care about.
So, thank you -- each of you -- for what you've done (even when I don't "get it" yet)
_______
In a context of grief, I've been thinking a lot about chains which hold me in the past. I can't distinguish between love and chains. I must let go. I want to hold on. I can't figure it out.
I construed it as a good omen when I discovered an image of chains here. This rope repair in this chain makes it the most important image I've found online in November.
The answer to questions I can't put into words is captured by this photographer. I just have to wait until understanding comes to me.

PinePhone, a new and upcoming mobile Linux project
Discovered the PinePhone on posts across the fediverse, and I am intrigued by it.
I consider the current two major players situation a real problem -- not only due to Privacy and huge Security concerns, but also for the lack of choices we end up with.
I have used a variety of systems in the past. Miss many of them, which were great products, in terms of Design, features, creative User Experience (UX) and User Interface (UI).
The best don't necessarily win. Witnessed by the numerous examples of superior ones being left behind and to the memories of their orphaned users.
What is PinePhone?
"An Open Source Smart Phone Supported by All Major Linux Phone Projects
Perhaps you’re in a line of work where security is a must, or a hard-core Linux enthusiast, or perhaps you’ve just got enough of Android and iOS and you’re ready for something else – the PinePhone may be the next Phone for you. Powered by the same Quad-Core ARM Cortex A53 64-Bit SOC used in our popular PINE A64 Single Board Computer, the PinePhone runs mainline Linux as well as anything else you’ll get it to run.
The purpose of the PinePhone isn’t only to deliver a functioning Linux phone to end-users, but also to actively create a market for such a device, as well as to support existing and well established Linux-on-Phone projects. All major Linux Phone-oriented projects, as well as other FOSS OS’, are represented on the PinePhone and developers work together on our platform to bring support this this community driven device. "
