Qoto indeed gets Flak for not disconnecting from some instances. I have personally done Diplomacy to try and mend our own instance being Blocked -- for NOT blocking others.

Strictly professional, as I do block whoever I perceive as not worth it.

Degrees of Separation.

Many like it so, me included. A personal opinion, not an Instance policy, as Qoto is pretty open and not into Blocking people.

But all of us, as users, have the ease and power of Blocking ANY instance or user in our personal accounts.

A pretty good idea, and I like it so.

This is a repost of my original Announcement for the Blog page.

That was published on January 4, 2020.

...and I have been thinking, have many ideas for new Blog pages, will likely resume writing regularly. One of the ideas is a follow up to this page (which I think can be very informative and helpful, specially for people curious about The Other Instances out there).

A few months have passed. Things have changed, people joined, good friends disappeared. Normal Fediverse life, including Feuds and battles, we had a few scrapes (another page idea!).

Just yesterday had a chat with an influential friend, an instance admin that has a different look on things - this being so indicative of personality types.

I post lots of Cat photos, 'cause I love them, and am like them; independant minded, curious, aloof on occasion, perfectly capable to turn and walk away from a discussion if I think it's pointless.

Just like a typical Feline. LOL...

My friend is a Dog lover, and a Dog personality, Bites into something, won't let go. Loyal, one home person.

My curiosity takes me to different countries all together, so why not to another instance, that is just one new Tab and a signup away? I like seeing other local cultures. 😺

One of the ideas being jotted down is a recap and update on some of the instances in the above post. Some I have said good bye to (and Good Riddance). Some I have visited occasionally, and there might be new ones to mention, so keep an eye out, will announce when ready.

Once again I had an enjoyable conversation, earlier today. Achso was there, and we continued a conversation from a day before. We discussed different things, and specially how choosing an instance to fit your needs and preferences is important.
