"With AI, now any idiot can write malware!"

As a security researcher, I can assure you that idiots have been writing malware for quite some time.

Cameron's decision to 'cut the green crap' hasn't just made homes colder, energy bills more expensive, climate emergency more urgent - it's resulted in scores of lost high-skilled, high-wage, high-quality green jobs. So much for the 'greenest Govt ever'

The Chancellor of the Exchequer getting hit for multiple millions in settlement to avoid prosecution for tax evasion while in charge of Boris Johnson's government's finances, gagging the press with threats of SLAPP lawsuits, and being up to his eyeballs in a crooked speculative finance bubble over PPE gear during COVID, is absolutely on point for the Conservatives.

Like putting a libertarian bankster and private medical speculator in charge of the NHS.

Theirs is a parliament of thieves.

Alright, so the ๐Ÿšฒ tyres need some fine tuning but so far I'm very happy and surprised by how little extra effort is necessary for the studded ๐Ÿšฒ tyres.

UK Politics: Brexit

@simonpease - its childish and stupid. Remainers are really just people who supported the status quo, i.e., we recommended not scuttling the ship you were on cause you would drown. Tories are now annoyed cause everyone else has a dinghy except them.

UKPolitics: Brexit

6. So the truth is, when they blame โ€œRemainersโ€ for the failure of Brexit, they have a point, but they are blaming themselves for never once attempting to see the other side. You cannot impose your will on everyone else and expect them to accept it. Even if you โ€œwinโ€ a vote. Thatโ€™s just dumb.

Challenged to name a single benefit of Brexit which is making peoples lives better right now the Treasury Minister couldnโ€™t name a single one! If anyone still thinks this Government is not taking the public for fools please take 3 mins to watch this video

Politics: Festival of Brexit

The Festival of Brexit is apparently being investigated by the National Audit Office over its โ€œexorbitantโ€ cost.

Looks like it was very aptly named after all...

Almost like the whole thing was a genius piece of concept art...

@thor - its weird because when you're scouting for singers the last mistake any producer needs is for you to pick one that can't sing.

Brexit โ€˜betrayalโ€™ ๐Ÿ™„

The tabloid/hardliner hysteria at the slightest hint of more pragmatism towards the EU is oppressive.
When will we start to have a sane and reasonable debate, rather than this utterly childish foot-stamping at the tentative attempts to explain that the fantasy cannot be delivered?

@brianconnell @SeanJones @Qjames - we weren't remainers, we were just status quo. Its not enough now frankly for me irrespective of what happens that we don't have serious reform of govt structure and elections first. Our system is a disgusting corrupt and archaic pile of nonsense run by a bunch of minority elected psychopaths with little to zero actual understanding of the real world or the reality of life for the majority. They're shying away from the EU because they know they'd be found out for the stupid dishonest clowns they are and its only cause of FPTP voting that a small minority of the electorate get to call the shots. Its a total farce. The UK has always been an autocracy but now the veneer is off and they don't want to admit they were wrong because it would mean reform would have to happen.

It's not a rule, but Mastodon in general has etiquette in which using content warnings for sensitive topics is done in spirit of being a good neighbour. I'm sure everyone has already seen the news, and it's a real worry for many people, so adding a content warning can make things easier for people who are already overwhelmed by it. Just something to consider.

Brexit

@SeanJones @Qjames @brianconnell A majority will humbly accept the conditions because the alternative of an incompetent autocracy we have now is worse.

@rozenberg - this seems to me another silly attempt to bully through the "I am the winner. Pay my way." argument the govt loves, rather than simply having clearer guidance or accepting it had actually lost right from the start when a certain newspaper got involved. This is another one that didn't need to involve the court at all if it wasn't for such dishonesty.
