Was the moose heading into the grocery store or coming out?

Thank you for outlining why my eyes glaze and my brain hurts as I skim over that editorial page. But you forgot to mention the awesome Ann Telnaes, the only reason I look at that section.
(I do a double take every time in see the byline George Will; he was in the Minneapolis paper when I was in middle school, and I’m old.)

“Renewable energy critics love to point out that it takes 255 tons of coal to build a wind turbine,” Michael Thomas point out in a twitter thread. “But it would take a coal-fired power plant 154,494 tons of coal to generate as much electricity as a wind turbine produces over its entire life.”

If you have access to Twitter, read @curious_founder ’s whole thread. twitter.com/curious_founder/st

I was delighted to discover that this classic 1990 piece on clear scientific writing was reposted as a blog in 2018. I have referred to my dog eared pdf version many times. It demonstrates and explains practical hints for diagnosing and fixing obfuscation.

@Ruth_Mottram Same sad situation here, overcast and snowing. 🙁

@StephenBHeard on my brief foray into I asked it to give citations to some papers it claimed to be referring to. It produced titles of two real articles attached to completely wrong authors, journals, and even doi's. Which, of course, is just what you’d predict from the algorithms.

I’m so proud of the long hard work by my fellow Michiganders to fix , fight voter suppression, support reproductive rights, and give us the state government voters want.
My neighbors here the far north, ultra red Upper Peninsula haven’t got the memo yet. I’m hoping they’ll remember their community-minded roots before 2024 so we can finally boot our do-nothing insurrectionist rep.

In a logical world some of those red dots would make the obvious connection and turn blue.

@ct_bergstrom Begs the question: when ChatGPT says “we” who does it mean?

@revkin Was there a recent ice layer coating in that forest? Around here ice sometimes breaks small branch tips like that.

We (researchers at University of Colorado Boulder, including @bkeegan ) are conducting a research study about social media platform migration. Right now we are looking for help *piloting* a survey about experiences with joining Mastodon and/or leaving (or choosing not to leave) Twitter.

If you would be willing to help with a pilot by filling out a most open-answer questionnaire, let me know and I will DM more details!

@hasmis

April in February is really disconcerting. Freezing rain should be restricted to below 46N.

Isn’t Wales the country with a minister in charge of looking out for the interests of future citizens?
This decision sounds like one that will greatly improve the lives of future Wales residents, with decreased air pollution, traffic deaths, and climate impacts.
