Well yea sure, the american people are kinda brain dead when it comes to voting good high quality candidates in.. not sure what that has to do with anything.. doesnt change the fact that there are 4 people/parties on the ballot and they all have the same conditions on winning and all 4 are equally eligible.

@freemo @stux Chicken/egg translation unnecessary. They're completely irrelevant. They'll probably take even fewer votes than 2016. If they were high quality people would know they exist. Ross Perot was high quality, Ron Paul was high quality.

Americans have ideology that prevents them from supporting good ideas, their idology is extremism and good ideas and good people dont reflect extremism.

So the very nature of the american people right now is that a good candidate with good reasonable ideas that address all the concenrs of both sides... well those candidates arent going to get much of a vote.. but thats hardly a reason to go "Good candidates have a slim chance of winning so i will make it a point to never vote for good candidates!"

It probably looks that way because your watching paid, commercial, services (most of the news) to tell you a story? what it "looks like" is going to reflect whatever the commercial interests are of those organizations. The goal of news organizations (and this includes Dutch news) is not to tell accurate impartial news, its to make money. You make more money off some narratives than you do off others.

@freemo Well yes and no. The news yeah absolutely, that’s why they exist these days. But also my whole general input is based on this.. No matter where I go on the web or afk.. That’s why I love these kinda threads! People who live actually in it can educate me😃

Certainly a reasonable approach, talk to the people to get your ideas, not the news...

the problem is you are talking about americans here, they are pretty much the bottom of the barrel when it comes to an american seeing the reality around them accurately.

So you are largely getting your information from people who in turn themselves rely strongly on our own news to form their opinions and very fiercely defend and adopt world views out of bias for extremism support of whatever side their own.

So in this case going to americans isnt likely to give you an accurate picture either, simply because americans arent really any better than the news at conveying things accurately in the political arena (or any for that matter).

I guess this is kind of on par with the caliber of conversation I expect from an america who supports the democratic party and biden honestly. It usually boils down to personal insults about some made up shit that no one ever said.

Dealing with americans is like dealing with people in a mental hospital who dont even know what reality is. Like literally every message you have contributed so far is about some imagined fiction of something I said that I never said, and you resorting to name calling over it. Its weird, but not unusual really. Americans are weird like that, we are extremist when it comes to politics so variety of opinion isnt something you'd see get much noise.

With that said, the other candidates do wind up in the news.. plenty to find on them if yo usearch the news section of google.

as for if it matters what side you vote.. not sure what that means.. you vote for people not parties. In the american system the party doesnt make a huge difference as there are no coalitions as in other governments.

members of a party in the USa will often side with their party. This is done partly because if they dont then they may not get votes next year since presumably it was people registered with their party who voted for them and thus the party ideals reflect the ideals of their voting base.

But thats about as far as any pressure from their party goes.

Well considering I never claimed anyone other than Biden or Trump would or could win seems I'm safe then.. In fact I pointed out very clearly that americans would never vote for a high quality candidate on the ballot, and thus did not feel any of the high-quality candidates (which are pretty much anyone other than Trump or biden) stand a chance of winning, so in that regard we agree.

I wouldnt say their the same though, they are both just as bad, but in different ways.

Ironically Insurance is the very reason I had to leave the USA. When ObamaCare was initiated my insurance costs increases by 4x, and worse yet, most of the time insurance now refuses to cover me at all for most treatments and many doctors refuse to accept any insurance of any kind. For example thanks to ObamaCare it is now virtually impossible to get a Psychiatrist in PA in any reasonable amount of time (some have very long multiple-month waiting lists) while on insurance.

So not only did my insurance costs increase four fold under obama, not only am i forced to pay out of pocket now for much of my care, but Obama even required me to have insurance even if the insurance sucks and wont cover me i still MUST have it and pay for it.

In fact the one thing trump did for insurance while in office (he didnt change it much) was remove the requirement that people have insurance at all. So now if insurance is shit and wont cover you as it did with me at least you can drop it entirely.

So yea I agree Insurance is very important and needs some significant reform, and Biden sure as hell wont be helping there he is literally the guy who broke insurance to begin with. Not that I think Trump will make it right honestly, frankly I expect he would screw it up too if he had his way.

But at least if i judge on the actual results of what bidens contribution was to insurance and what Trumps was so far... Trump while doing very little what he did do was a marked improvement, and biden, biden was on the team that made health insurance in america somehow actually worse!

Also just to be clear, I do agree there are some amazing americans who dont suck. but they are like 0.01% of the population. As an American myself I can attest that virtually all of us do, in fact suck. The exceptions are rare and few between and im willing to accept that perhaps your one of the exceptions.

Nobody votes for a third party because nobody thinks they'll win because they never win because nobody votes for a third party. Chicken egg. Then when there's an actually popular third-party candidate they get suppressed by the establishment. I've seen less support for Jorgenson than I did for Aleppo man.
