Interesting fact of the day: Australia, and Austria are actually the same place, the first one is just the British pronunciation and spelling and the second one is the american version.

@freemo

Some years ago there was a 12 year old kid who was supposed to get on a flight from Los Angeles to Oakland, where his mother was going to meet him. Well, 18 hours later the Aussies were putting back on plane to California.

@Pat I'd have just stayed and make them bring my mom to me :)

@freemo

He heard them announce "Last call for flight 123 to Auckland." So he got on the plane. Nobody noticed his ticket was for Oakland.

@Pat This also happens every so often with Sydney, Nova Scotia. Europeans search for flights to Sydney and find one that's cheaper than the rest, not realising that's because it's going to YQY instead of SYD.

@freemo

@khird

This literally happened to me earlier with I think it was like London, Australia instead of London, England.

@Pat @freemo
I just got it...! The joke/mistake....!

Auckland=Oakland

@lucifargundam @freemo

Yeah, I didn't explain it very well. It's funny because of the huge difference in locations.
