All day there have been explosions from missiles going off overhead... the shockwave shakes the walls... Its some crazy shit.... kinda surreal being in effectively a war zone with everyone going about their business as if it wasnt even happening.
@realcaseyrollins yes thats exactly it,its a retaliation thing for sure.
@freemo Mrm, stay safe.
@trinsec I will probably be fine... so far they avent hit locally and no sirens went off locally (the sirens are very localized to where they will hit).. But every 30 seconds or so you hear a "thud", sometimes quite a ways away but still scary
@freemo @trinsec You should be receiving hazard pay so hopefully that will increase the amount of money from the contract. If it doesn't get better I'd highly recommend a vest and NATO helmet. The helmet won't stop bullets but the webbing system instead has great protection against the pressure wave. The vest should help with the pressure wave and possible shrapnel.
Time to swap to a Toughbook and carry a boo-boo kit. In a fucked up way, that sounds very exciting.
@AmpBenzScientist @freemo @trinsec
When I lived in an even worse neighborhood, people got murdered(not specifically shot) almost daily. It became something not worth mentioning as it was so common- you would only care if it was someone you knew or was nextdoor.
@lucifargundam @freemo If you start to display PTSD symptoms don't hesitate to seek help.
@lucifargundam @AmpBenzScientist @trinsec
Growing uo in the ghetto, i can relate.
If i started showing up at work in a vest and NATO helmet they woukd think i lost my damn mind.
@freemo
To be fair, it does beat literally losing your mind. ;)
@freemo @trinsec Perhaps say that it's a toxic work environment and you need that gear to make others feel more confident in themselves. Sometimes it's hard to be this good but other people need to feel confident too. It actually takes that much gear to level the field which is more of a testament to their insecurities than anything else.
It really would look like you woke up and somehow thought you were a CNN reporter. Maybe mention some baggage from the past bringing you down and pull the Toughbook out. There are so many jokes about the Toughbook. A Marine once asked me if my Toughbook was a Toughbook so I tossed it down some stairs with the power on. I opened it up and continued what I was doing and responded, "Yes it's a Toughbook." Someone told me I shouldn't do that to a laptop and I told them this is nothing compared to what they are expected to endure. The best way to kill a Toughbook is with time. It's like buyers remorse with useful legacy ports and it doesn't break. I drop tested it frequently out of respect and admiration.
@freemo
Just "escaped" the south(by gf's demand), the amout of missiles and red alerts within 1 hour was rather shocking
@RustyStriker If youa re int he south of Israel its gotta be sooooo much worse than this.. here im isolated enough that its just a scary sound, I probably wont get hit.. but int he south its always right around the corner.
I bet housing is pretty cheap in the south huh?
@freemo
Chep indeed(though im a studen so ), its 15 seconds to enter a safe room, but you kinda get used to it rather quickly
@RustyStriker Whats the closest a rocket has ever landed to you? Id be less worried about the time to get to a safe room and more worried about how often bombs land close enough that a safe room would have saved me
@freemo , probably a few blocks away, but there was a vid from a hit in a factory roughly 10 seconds after eveyone entered the safe room
@RustyStriker Wells tay safe out there! Soundslike you are more at risk than me by a long shot... this is my first bombing of this extent, there wass one a while back when i first got here but was pretty minor.
@freemo !! Where the heck are you?
