#MastodonMigration post, with data - and a couple of #TwitterMigration cartoons.
In which I try to estimate the size of #Science Mastodon –and find it's bigger than I'd have guessed.
If, like me, you've been wondering where to see data on Mastodon growth, there are some links for you. I'd love to hear of any more!
world population surpassed 8,000,000,000 today

Ok, so there you go. I've experienced this happening many times with some of my posts, being that I'm in the GeoPolitics game, if people don't like what I'm saying they'll contact the admin of Facebook and/or Twitter etc., and all of a sudden posts won't go through. It's typical of social media. One just has to deal with it and move on.
Some nice new features in the new Mastodon server software (version 4) that was just released. I especially like the ability to follow hashtags the way you follow people. I'm initially following #Climate, #SupplyChain, and #Sustainability

@obi possibly 🤪😅 maybe someone at #climatejustice.social could enlighten us #twitterban #mastodoninstance
@obi maybe it's because of spreading fake news though this isn't disclosed in its policy
@geantonicelli I tried 2 people from that domain and both would not post. I tried a few other domains, and fine. I will have to keep playing with this more. It's become interesting ha
@obi well, I thought it was general until I checked it, that's the reason of the update
@obi try it yourself
it seems that the ban is limited to climatejustice.social though I haven't checked every mastodon instance
CSVconf is happening again. This time in Buenos Aires - April 19-20, 2023. It’s a great community conference focused on elegant approaches to hacking/interoperability…and how simple data projects can solve societal problems. Please consider submitting a proposal. And please spread the word. https://csvconf.com
To this extent I'm really interested to know how the age breakdown of people on the #Fediverse. On one hand it would seem to make sense to me that most people here remember the "old internet" before the centralization and they're here to rekindle that flame of independence. On the other hand the youths are generally pretty up on this whole technology thing. I grew up on the internet and since then smartphones have become even more ubiquitous.

@Baley but members get points that they can exchange for some good
non-members too
Precedents like the German government running a Mastodon server are important beyond the obvious reasons. They reinforce the urgency of serious public funding for open code.
If we treated open code as part of the essential infrastructure of the 21st century and funded it at billions of USD/EUR as opposed to tiny grants here and there, the "fediverse" model of interconnected, self-governing communities would become the norm, not the exception.
