@billiam @itchio yeah, this is pretty great, my roommate and I just bought it after seeing the mermaid-js integrations and the style.

We're also curious what this was written in (cc @murks)?

A fair few people still adopt the Twitter mentality of being on a stage and talking to an audience. I hope they realise soon that it's far more enjoyable to sit around a coffee table and talk _with_ people instead. Soapboxes may be nice, but being on the same level is better.

"There’s all this talk about artificial general intelligence… and how close we are to it with AI, but I don’t think anyone can define what they mean as the target. That’s part of the problem. We don’t have a theory that will tell us when AI has reached that point… If we don’t even know what the target is, we can’t say how close we are to it.” -Melanie Mitchell

@aliceschwarze This talk was really great, while I was in a PhD program I was working on Reconstructability Analysis, which searches for the simplest models in a set of possible models, and also produces interpret-able decision trees.

Definitely agree that explain-ability and interpret-ability are extremely important for high stakes automated decision making.

Very interested in Rashomon sets and how one determines the size of the Rashomon set of models compared to the set of all models?

Now that we've made our #introductions, let's start to get some science into our feeds! For #MLMonday, I want to share Cynthia Rudin's excellent talk on explainable #ML "Do Simpler Machine Learning Models Exist and How Can We Find Them?" in the NSF CISE Distinguished Lecture Series. I work on using computer vision, machine learning, and technology in general to help us gain insight into biology. My most cited work involves tracking and behavior analysis of flies and mice. I love algorithms and trying to understand how and when they work and what they're good at. But also I'm an engineer and want to solve problems however I can, regardless of elegance!

Incredible. Musk's team literally fired people without knowing what those people even did. Some employees laid off by mistake, other employees were laid off on purpose but it turns out they're the only ones who know how to implement features Musk wants.

Mastodon and Twitter can coexist. Mastodon is for smart content, Twitter is for watching Elon Musk own himself.

For those of you who joined this week, it may be hard to understand how bewildering it is for us who have been here longer.

It took me from April to November to connect with 300 people. It took from when Elon bough Twitter for me to connect with 1,300.

It took me since LAST NIGHT to connect with 2,700. This is bonkers.

We are so glad you are here and PLEASE don't turn this into the what many of us fled some time ago.

1. Dunking gets you no points here.
2. Claps/clapbacks etc. don't either.
