Yesterday was Clean Monday here in Greece. It marks the start of Lent and is also a national holiday. On Symi, there's a tradition of flying kites on the day. However, I wondered whether, with the continuing nationwide lockdown, I might see any activity at all.

I occasionally looked out of the window but without joy. However, mid afternoon. I spied a small group of youngsters trying to raise a small red kite on the Kastro opposite. Unfortunately, there wasn't much wind so they weren't very successful. (Often there's plenty of wind here!). However, it was great to see a rather lovely tradition being kept alive in the current circumstances.

Sadly I don't have a photo of the party or the kite but here's the view from the window.
