Hi everyone. I'm in the process of setting up this account because I hate what Musk is doing to Twitter. If we already know each other from Twitter, feel free to follow me here and I'll endeavour to do the same in return as things go forward.
All the best 👍

Good. But that is less than half a job done. Get rid of #FPTP, like nearly all the rest of his party #UKLabour want to do, and I might start taking his musings on democracy seriously.

Politics. Privatising The World

Finally, my book arrived after years of searching for it. I paid £8:99.

I found this book in an Online Oxfam shop, after years of searching. I could not afford to buy before.

(Used Amazon £72:97
Used AbeBooks £46:03)

This is why I wanted to read it and why I want to stop privatising the world. We only have to look at our world to see the damage it's done to ordinary people.

I wonder what Aneurin Bevan made of #christmas. Especially in regards to inclusive #wellbeing. It’s a time that throws so much up for people, poverty, missing home - family or isolation.
Christmas for me is not about wanting presents, though when someone gets a gift intuitively right that’s lovely & I do really enjoy thinking about what others may like.
Most, I like tradition of family, friends, engaging with the natural magic of winter, though those things seem hard to get, right.

❄️ The whole of the UK can expect temperatures to plummet in the coming days with the arrival of a dramatically named wintry storm called the 'Troll of Trondheim'

RT @davesumnersmith
The Brexit dream is dead. There are no trade partners out there desperately seeking to do business with the UK. We are too small & far too far away.

Brexiteers should swallow their pride, stand aside ASAP & let the pragmatists do their best to rebuild bridges with the EU.

This weekend I will be working more on the "United Federation of Instances"

First thing I want to do is go through all the issues in the repo and try to comment or add my opinion on them.

Feel free to get in on the conversation here, its open to everyone.

gitlab.com/ufoi/constitution/-

Next I will work more on finishing the full bylaws, and try to incorperate any new perspectives from the discussions in the issues (eventually we can vote on the final wording).

Anyone interested in seeing the progress on that (the first draft isnt done) you can check that out here:

ufoi.gitlab.io/constitution/un

Of course you can see the original proposal document (which is the easier read and sumarizes the bylaws) here:

ufoi.gitlab.io/constitution/un

If anyone wants to contribute just join the first link I mentioned and feel free to offer merge requests. Also if anyone wants to help work on things like a website for us please speak up.

As always if you want to get into the conversation there are two ways other than the gitlab.

The first is fediverse groups: @ufoi

The other is our matrix chat room: :matrix.org

Hope to see you all there.

I never thought, when I trained or worked as a GP, that Diphtheria and Polio or, to a large extent, measles, would again be things that I might have to recognise. Nor would I have believed that malnutrition on a scale currently seen would be tolerated by society. I was wrong - how quickly are the hard-fought gains lost.

Hi, I'm Yasmine. I live in the North Pennines in England. I have a border collie and a no-dig allotment, and I occasionally dabble with mosaics and pen and ink. Trying to be a runner!!

I'm not sure yet what I'll be sharing over here, but on the bird place it was wildlife, regenerative farming, general ranting about UK politics, and feeling helpless at the horrors humans are inflicting on the planet and each other.

@LenoreSimson and god forbid they make use of our public #health expertise - demonstrating its evil to destroy it as is their ideology.
Government put the whole response into the hands of Sirco.
Even local GPs didn’t know which of their patients had contracted Covid. This information was kept from them by the Tory government.
They’d rather we died in our thousands than admit pubic health is essential for our welfare.

W.E.B. Du Bois was one of the most important & influential African American intellectuals of the 20th century.
