We have another high figure for deaths today in #Covid19Cymru - 30, taking the 7-day average up to 17.3. I suspect there was an element of catching up again; looking at he trends I've been expecting we might see up in the high 20s a day by the time we reach the peak around the end of next week, but not quite this early.
I'm attaching my total cases graph today, which I haven't shown for a while. It's quite stark the way deaths rose again from mid September.

New cases, 1272 today, takes the 7-day average below 1300 (1299.4) - it first went above that a week ago. So this is further indication that the peak has passed. Though today's fall is only marginal, at just 15.

Screenshot of PHW data on the web included. Ceredigion once again is at the bottom with just 5. RhCT top with 216, but note Merthyr's cases per 100K, and the very high positivity rate for some areas .

There are quite a few people saying that England's lockdown is being widely ignored. If true, it will fail in its purpose. If that spreads across to Wales, then we're in trouble. The government will have lost the power to control the outbreak, the NHS will be overwhelmed, and there will be many unnecessary deaths.
This is what happens when people lose trust in politicians. We are fortunate that most people of most political persuasions still trust Drakeford & co on this.

It looks like I was right about the peak in cases in #Covid19Cymru yesterday, as today's data add further evidence to suggest the figures are going down.
It has also been observed that there is a slowing in cases in England too (see coronavirus.data.gov.uk/) . Yet they are not in lockdown. Why might this be? School half term. And if that is the reason there, then it also is likely to be a large part of the reason here. That's worrying, as schools returned here this week. /1

The time of the peak was more or less when I predicted it would be in my nation.cymru article a fortnight ago. I also said in that article that I was concerned about schools opening this week. I worry that we are not properly addressing the biggest source of transmission.
As for local authorities, see table below. Ceredigion regains best position with just 2 cases, RhCT is still way off at the top with 240. /2

In yesterday's #Covid19Cymru analysis I said "So I'm expecting a higher figure tomorrow (and don't be too shocked if it is very high).". So don't be too alarmed at the figure of 44 today. It was obvious to me that there was a backlog somewhere, as the figures were too low. It is, however, still quite a shockingly high figure, but so was last Wednesday's 37. The 7-day average is now 16.0 (up 1.0).

The 7-day average cases is down 30 to 1314. /3

New study finds psilocybin greatly and quickly relieves depression

Interesting! I haven't done any since I was a kid. I think maybe I did them too often - so many around and they cost nothing obviously.

It is looking increasingly like we're flattening out at the top of the cases curve in #Covid19Cymru, Despite the odd reporting over the weekend, the direction of the 7-day average (green) line seems to be turning. This is pretty much exactly when I said we'd see this happening in my Nation.Cymru article a fortnight ago, so I suspect this is real.
I'm assuming the blank against Gwynedd in the PHW data is a genuine 0, not a reporting failure. It was yesterday's lowest county.

As for deaths, they are slightly down too; just 4 today, taking the daily average down 0.43 to 15. That's not expected yet, but the weekend rebound often comes on a Wednesday. So I'm expecting a higher figure tomorrow (and don't be too shocked if it is very high). 2/2

What year are we in again?
