@yourfutureex Def wasn't rhetorical. Genuinely want to know. Thank you for your insight. I am a teacher in the international system so 1-2 year contracts at a time. Lots of schools want teachers for more than a contract but then do little to keep good teachers. I put in notice, was told I am hard to replace and would I consider staying. Asked for a small pay rise... Nope. Honestly, the extra cash would have kept me.

Do any industries/jobs actually exist where true hard work and competence earns you a pay rise? Or if you said you were going to quit to a higher paying job, you would be offered more money to stay?

@vga256 Teacher here. "Make me 1 slide to tell me about yourself" is a go-to start of the year activity. This year, yr7 (age 11), every slide looked like this....

@fesshole I planned a whole trip, called it Pie Quest, where the usual 6hr road trip was broken into 2 days. Each day had 4 pie stops. Made score cards and everything. Just 6, 30-something aged ladies in a van to find the best Australian style meat pie (there is a difference!) along 700-ish kilometers of road.

@fesshole I loved when my mate who worked at Macca's would give me a family meal of food instead of just a burger meal and then when I paid I got all my money back as change... the sweet life.
