@obi Right. I mean, if somebody gets caught in an endless, inescapable scroll through an essay-length QOTO post, I think that's a legitimate gripe, but it's only an issue with certain mobile clients, I think. Otherwise, it just opens in a separate column, and everybody's free to roll their eyes and click "Back" if they don't want to read it.

In my three weeks of being a self-appointed Walmart greeter here on #Mastodon, I've noticed people looking for a connection. Just someone to follow them.
So I follow them. Why? Because it costs me nothing, other than time to say hello and click the "+" button.
Many of these folks are shy. Often they're not big posters anyway. So they're not crowding my Home timeline.
And when they do post? 
So cool. And I think, "There's my new friend! I wonder what they have to say?"
