@theDoctor @Phate6660 it would be nice if Gnome extension model wasn't single threaded & if extension incompatibilities didn't yeet the shell to crash, of course those design decisions were made long ago -- but I would be happy to see them "unmade". I really can understand people using Plasma+Latte Dock as panel -- their new Launch Menu is really good and the last 8 months or so have been Gnome Extension hell -- still for the average office user Gnome has some advantages in its simplicity still, albeit sometimes stubborn in some design decisions.

Without Dash To Panel, Dash to Dock or TopIcons it would be unusable for most people.

@YesIKnowIT If anything having good graphics on Linux required you spend much more on your graphics cards. It's been worth every penny though to break free of windows.

@pixelfed PixelDroid needs to be logged out and back in every week or two to keep the feeds fresh so I guess better Mobile. I would also like to subscribe to specific hashtags and I noticed videos don't work in but that's probably not made by you guys, also just having more responsive server, load times & running contests or ad campaigns to draw users could go a long way

we at #nixos want to empower users to do what they want, even if the choices could be considered bad, like installing proprietary software. that's why it's considered for advanced users. you are responsible for the choices you make and you can end up with a broken system, but it's easy to roll back to a working state. experimenting is encouraged

that's how i explained it to an elementary OS developer
