@JoshStrobl @Solus I've noticed over the years that doesn't have a clear vision of things. You take for example and what "is" vs what "was" are two different products. A pineapple vs a apple. It's sad to see them double-down and alienate the broader developer community.

Given the state of GTK4, GNOME's intentions with regards to theming and it opening the door to fragmentation, proposed changes for GTK5, and lack of confidence that #GNOME is producing an equitable ecosystem for the Linux community, @Solus will be working to build an ecosystem with #EFL. #Budgie 11 will not use GTK. joshuastrobl.com/2021/09/14/bu

PixelFed has just reached 50k users on 186 instances! ๐Ÿฅณ

If you haven't tried it yet, you can find out more from the official site at:

pixelfed.org

It's a Fediverse alternative to Instagram, and federates with Mastodon etc. so millions of people across the Fediverse can follow PixelFed accounts.

PixelFed has an unofficial Android app called @PixelDroid. It's currently in beta testing, you can get it from F-Droid:

f-droid.org/packages/org.pixel

If you don't have F-Droid yet, here are instructions on how to install it:

@telroy@fosstodon.org @ademalsasa lacks discovery of good clients or a central server and features are not standardized so it adds complexity the user must learn, understand and then navigate. The name is not memorable for advertising, never had any friends on the network, and it offers me nothing really unlike where there is a recommended official client & the scope of features is standardized instead of addons. Much easier to use even though setup is a slight PITA

Last month the Netherlands passed #RouterFreedom into law: all ISPs must let customers choose their own Internet hardware and still provide tech support at no extra cost. That little box is your home-internet gatekeeper, and now in NL it can work for you fsfe.org/news/2021/news-202108

@theDoctor @Phate6660 it would be nice if Gnome extension model wasn't single threaded & if extension incompatibilities didn't yeet the shell to crash, of course those design decisions were made long ago -- but I would be happy to see them "unmade". I really can understand people using Plasma+Latte Dock as panel -- their new Launch Menu is really good and the last 8 months or so have been Gnome Extension hell -- still for the average office user Gnome has some advantages in its simplicity still, albeit sometimes stubborn in some design decisions.

Without Dash To Panel, Dash to Dock or TopIcons it would be unusable for most people.

@YesIKnowIT If anything having good graphics on Linux required you spend much more on your graphics cards. It's been worth every penny though to break free of windows.
