This interpretation of the law in this disturbing case has sparked discussion about the nature of security research.
“It shouldn't matter how strong the protection was,“ systems administrator @wolf480pl commented. “The purpose of security research is to find flaws in protections, the same flaws that could be used to do something malicious. That's the whole point. The difference between a security researcher and a cybercriminal isn't what protections they bypass, it's what they do after they find out that they can bypass a protection.”

Huge support for new rules.
Poll: 82% of Ireland favours social media companies being made to stop building up data about their sexual desires/political & religious views/ethnicity/health etc, and using that data to pick what videos are shown to them.
Strong support across age, education, class, income, property ownership for rules to prevent TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, etc. from using profiling-based recommender algorithms, unless a user has asked the companies to do this.
Just finished the last episode of #twistedmetal series ; although i disagree with its take on the story, i do have some mild anticipation for the second second
