#Wikidata currently holds information on almost 20000 periodicals published worldwide before 1930: https://w.wiki/A6s8. But, as one would suspect, quality of data and coverage differs widely between regions.
So, if you work on periodicals, particularly those published outside the Global North and major centres of publication, consider adding your knowledge to Wikidata for others to link to and discover these awesome resources.

Apparently just these days Google have discovered web search. To use it, I had to dig into other search results and click on "Web"

The USA is stuck to cars. The rest of the world moves on.

This reminds of the time I met a couple of musician union reps at a party. I was interested to hear their thoughts file sharing and illegal downloads, this being the late nineties. For them the issue was insignificant compared to how little musicians got paid.
This surprised me because the public debate had been all about how musicians were being ripped off by people uploading cds and sharing songs via new technogy. Plus ca change.
We forget that for the vast majority of those earning a living from creative endeavours are wage earners.
The problem of getting a fair day's pay for a fair day's work betting over shadowed by 'new' problems isn't new.
When 18th century french weavers threw their sandals into the cogs of the new automatic weaving machines, they weren't luddites protesting the new technology. They were telling the bosses that your machines are only as good as those who used them.

#mediapool.bg want to illustrate an article on bread prices in Bulgaria. What I see is #GenAI overdoing the job.
After having studied how #midjuorney v4 could illustrate fairy tales (for anyone interested, https://qoto.org/@mapto/110111252142814403 ) I really want to research more about what stops GenAI from overdoing it with bread around a baker. The greatest obstacle I encounter is the obscurity of most models that engage with #neurosymbolic. It's practically useless, because the creators of such models prefer to be very secretive about what they do. The one exception reported results that do not seem to be reproducible (https://twitter.com/Birchlabs/status/1602105002448805891).

@j3j5 @blogdiva @KathyReid excuse me, actually at a second thought BERT and GPT are exactly doing corrupt-and-train on the dataset. This certainly weakens my interpretation. Apologies for the confusion.
