@freemo @Gargron @trinsec @khird Looks like the Mastodon CEO took the path of least resistance, by doing so he lost integrity. Perhaps it's better to ignore joinmastodon[.]org than to bother being listed on their site? Lacking integrity might mean they sell out in other ways as well, such as allowing government control, increase censorship, etc.
Alternatives exist. But as the official directory this one does have the most impact.
@freemo @modrobert @Gargron @trinsec @khird What are the alternatives?
i need to look them up for you, but I recall seeing handful of instance lists and directories before.
@rbe_expert @modrobert @Gargron @trinsec @khird I used the "official lookup" stuff. I found qoto.org on "official." Had I been a few days later, I would not have been on qoto.org, and either not aware of any of this, or found myself kicked as others have been for questioning the "official party line."
Then I'd have to blame @freemo for getting me kicked and ask him to let me join. I'm happy to have saved a step and the annoyance. I really... REALLY hate skulldugery, and I can't seem to shut up about it, ever.
@modrobert @freemo @Gargron @trinsec @khird Make a new join site that competes with joinmastodon dot org
