@LouisIngenthron @freemo I feel like I've been seeing this more lately. Did something change?
This is usually normal and can happen for a number of reasons:
1) the author of the previous too deleted it
2) the author of the previous toot delete and reedited it after the reply was made
3) the server where the previous toot is hosted has us blocked
Okay, but what about this one?
https://autistics.life/@Uniflame/112196806329773073
This is Uniflame's reply to htdrake's post that doesn't fall into any of these categories. I can clearly see both if I go to the page above, but htdrake's post doesn't show up in my feed.
If I look at htdrake's profile from qoto's web interface, I can't see her original post at all -- but (under "toots and replies") I can see her reply to Uniflame's reply.
What's going on?
@peterdrake Ok thats strange, when i try to go to the original post it is gone. Yes i can see most of her other posts.. I wonder what is special with that one?
I'd be inclined to see if this goes away with the upgrade. I know its been **way** slower than we wanted (and we patched in some critical stuff to hold us over) but the new beta environment needed to be rewritten twice. We just finished it earlier this week and our admin is now bringing up the services into it and getting the upgrades going in beta (to ensure we can switch over flawlessly).. My hope is this may be a version issue and that resolves it somehow (edited posts can behave like this sometimes). Mastodon has done a lot to break the standard unfortunately and forcing all the other players to adapt to their non-standard implementations.
Lets get these upgrades applies this month and see how much that fixes, at least now i have a full time team working on things, just a lot of stuff to do for the growth we have planned these next few months.
Very sorry about the little glitches, its been a problem for a few people and I assure you we have at least one guy working on this stuff full time now (sometimes more as the need arises, QOTO now has a dozen tech people on their team but not all of it is just for this service obviously).
@freemo No worries, and best of luck with the upgrade!
@peterdrake @freemo When I view that toot, my app shows the preceding toot as having been deleted. Might that be the issue?
@peterdrake @freemo This is with Mona for mac and iOS.
@peterdrake @freemo I thought the same thing at first, but I think that's usually the result of the author accidentally orphaning their reply. If you look that one up on the author's home server, it doesn't appear to be a reply to anything.
