2-point #perspective question: how do I draw a box to the right of the right vanishing point? #MastoArt #drawing #asktodon
Hey mastadonia- I miss having some like-minded strangers to share thoughts with these days but can’t bring myself to use another Meta platform. I’ve been on mastodon since the great Elonification of Twitter but struggling to find my community here. if you’re seeing this, share your best suggestions for how I can find my community here. I’m a 🇨🇦 disabled science/health/disability wonk, work in non profit and love knitting, dogs, and adapted mountain biking (aMTB).
On Catherynne Valente's very good post, on holding the line, and on not being the only ones doing it anymore
Team? Team. TEAM! Listen up.
Catherynne's figured it out too. She's got a great post up about how it's all about them trying to get us to surrender now.
They know that they only have this one last shot at this, and after this, they can't win, and then everything - EV. ER. Y. THING - changes for us.
If we win.
Which we will, if we work and work together...
...because whether you know it or not, _some_ of the cavalry we've been waiting for all these years are _already here_.
_Hold the goddamn line_.
What modern books do you use to teach basic Python for data science instead of @jakevdp's "Python Data Science Handbook"? https://jakevdp.github.io/PythonDataScienceHandbook/
I used to teach with that book from 2017-2023 but it got quite old already, I'm looking for a fresh perspective (or just an updated version of the book)

A 1D child challenged me to a "Baum prize" game (where players' ages differ by 40+ years). He gave me 4 stones and, predictably, was slapping me around with what was obviously a fraction of his attention. Miraculously, he missed an atari at the end and I won! Alas, it wasn't a rated game.
Good morning!
Things that are still true:
There are millions of Black registered voters, that want to vote for Biden, and plan to vote for him in November.
1) If 100% of these Black voters *are able* to vote for Biden, then Biden can't lose!
2) If 0% of these Black voters *are able* to vote for Biden, then Biden can't win.
Like every US POTUS election before this one, it all comes down to Black turnout. Which means it all comes down to suppression. Which means it comes down to racism.

A lot of people are reluctantly supporting Biden but don't have any specific reasons to like him. There is a constant wail of how Dems barely hold the line while Reps actively destroy things. I think this narrative was correct for Clinton & Obama but is totally wrong for Biden. People don't see how different this government has been. Here is a thread of some of the things Biden's govt has done.
