@cnx Yep. So frustrating when you horde some weird button or a piece of wire for like 10 years because you might need it some day and then you have the perfect use case for it but you're 3000 miles away 😛
Mario's lightning talk last year was, quoting my tweet at the time, "[a] banger", probably worth getting up for this one.
In absolute awe of @nedbat giving a keynote about the highly specific processes he’s used to be consistently the kindest guy in the Python community for decades, and even having it include illustrative and helpful code samples. It’s like watching a magician explain how the magic trick works on stage in terms you can do yourself but still having it be magic somehow @PyConUS
@mariatta Awesome! I do still need it, and tomorrow would be perfect. Thanks so much! 🙂🙂❤
Man, @psobot puts together a nice talk. Watch his lightning talk on multiprocessing if you have a chance.
Weird question, but anyone at #pyconus have a sewing kit I can use? Part of my bag is... hanging on by a thread.
(Don't go out of your way to help with this - I'm just hoping to save myself like 20 minutes by avoiding a trip to the store)
Caught up with @brianokken and @mkennedy, who for some reason weren't talking at 3x speed in person. #pycon #PyConUS2023 #pyconus
If you missed my talk but still want to see it, the video is already available for PyCon Online and in-person attendees!
@pganssle I forwarded a link to your talk to the other authors of Python in a Nutshell, got this feedback from @holdenweb on your talk: "A great presentation. I remember running into many of these issues when our software had to track international athletes across time zones and still provide meaningful statistics. Thanks for the link!"
Ahhhh, now to relax and enjoy #pycon
I'll be giving a talk on time zones at #PyConUS tomorrow (April 21st) at 14:30 MDT. If that sounds interesting to you, please join me in 355DEF or online!
The slides are here: https://pganssle-talks.github.io/pycon-us-2023-timezones
@hynek I wish the "zero" also meant zero caffeine. I can't be drinking caffeinated sodas all day! What do I look like, *not* an old man?
@scott Nice, thanks!
Exciting news from #PyPI, just in time for @PyConUS:
"Starting today, PyPI package maintainers can adopt a new, more secure publishing method that does not require long-lived passwords or API tokens to be shared with external systems."
I've been part of the private beta and it works really well!

@mpirnat Not sure about enforcement. I guess mask compliance is not 100% but it's very high from what I can tell.
I suspect that the conference staff will be enforcing mask compliance when they know about people not wearing masks.
