Hey #PyConUS, if you liked the cartoons in my keynote, they were done by my son Ben. He's a freelance illustrator, hit him up! artofbatch.com

t’s actually a good strategy for giving examples of APIs that can be improved that I’ve used in the past: use your own code for negative examples ๐Ÿ™‚

Love James Powell wearing his NumFocus sweatshirt while putting scipy’s interface on blast ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜‰

@nedbat Is there a place people are leaving their juggling stuff? I don’t really want to carry mine around all day ๐Ÿ˜…

Anyone know the person who did the lightning talk about public records / genealogy? I didn’t catch his name.

Hey #PyConUS are you ready to learn all about pyproject.toml? Come to my talk at 14:30.

After that, there will be a pyproject.toml open space where we can chat about the details! Not enough for you? I'll also be giving away signed copies of my book DevOps in Python, 2nd ed *and* copies of the book I co-authored, Expert Twisted.

Yayy, stream restored just in time to catch the tail end of @loldja’s talk about organizing events.

Reminder: If you are attending PyCon in person, you also have access to the Online streams through your dashboard. Useful for watching the morning lightning talks on your way to the conference if you are running late ๐Ÿ˜‰

(Though for some reason the stream right now doesn’t have any sound ๐Ÿ™)

Mario’s lightning talk last year was, quoting my tweet at the time, “[a] banger”, probably worth getting up for this one.

In absolute awe of @nedbat giving a keynote about the highly specific processes heโ€™s used to be consistently the kindest guy in the Python community for decades, and even having it include illustrative and helpful code samples. Itโ€™s like watching a magician explain how the magic trick works on stage in terms you can do yourself but still having it be magic somehow @PyConUS

So in case you needed a reason to roll out of bed tomorrow... Well, even if my lightning talk is bad, it's only 5 minutes, and you might hear something else amazing!

Man, @psobot puts together a nice talk. Watch his lightning talk on multiprocessing if you have a chance.

Weird question, but anyone at have a sewing kit I can use? Part of my bag is… hanging on by a thread.

(Don’t go out of your way to help with this - I’m just hoping to save myself like 20 minutes by avoiding a trip to the store)

Caught up with @brianokken and @mkennedy, who for some reason weren’t talking at 3x speed in person.

If you missed my talk but still want to see it, the video is already available for PyCon Online and in-person attendees!

@pganssle I forwarded a link to your talk to the other authors of Python in a Nutshell, got this feedback from @holdenweb on your talk: "A great presentation. I remember running into many of these issues when our software had to track international athletes across time zones and still provide meaningful statistics. Thanks for the link!"

I’ll be giving a talk on time zones at tomorrow (April 21st) at 14:30 MDT. If that sounds interesting to you, please join me in 355DEF or online!

The slides are here: pganssle-talks.github.io/pycon

Exciting news from #PyPI, just in time for @PyConUS:

"Starting today, PyPI package maintainers can adopt a new, more secure publishing method that does not require long-lived passwords or API tokens to be shared with external systems."

I've been part of the private beta and it works really well!
