@hasmis @Iwillyeah Indeed, peeled tomatoes ensure a minimum quality amount (tomatoes have to be entire). I still do get very bad tomatoes in there.

Performance of ChatGPT on USMLE: Potential for AI-Assisted Medical Education Using Large Language Models

We evaluated the performance of a large language model called ChatGPT on the United States Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), which consists of three exams: Step 1, Step 2CK, and Step 3. ChatGPT performed at or near the passing threshold for all three exams without any specialized training or reinforcement. Additionally, ChatGPT demonstrated a high level of concordance and insight in its explanations. These results suggest that large language models may have the potential to assist with medical education, and potentially, clinical decision-making. ### Competing Interest Statement The authors have declared no competing interest. ### Funding Statement This study did not receive any external funding ### Author Declarations I confirm all relevant ethical guidelines have been followed, and any necessary IRB and/or ethics committee approvals have been obtained. Carnivorous oyster mushrooms can kill roundworms with “nerve gas in a lollipop”

arstechnica.com/science/2023/0

"The mushrooms have evolved a novel mechanism for paralyzing and killing its nematode prey: a toxin contained within lollipop-like structures called toxocysts that, when emitted, causes widespread cell death in roundworms within minutes. Scientists have now identified the specific volatile organic compound responsible for this effect"

@Iwillyeah @hasmis I know how to make good tomato puree at home, but I don't really know the industrial processes.
The easiest way to know if they're good is buying them and tasting them. I'm not really sure how I'd go about investigating the production quality of several factories spread across the world.
Identifying which cans are good is easy to me, my problem is remembering.

@uselessfactsbadlydrawn Damn you, we'd all be better off with the -logH scale

@clarjon1 Damn, I always used a flashlight for that, that's where I was mistaken... I guess I'll have to get a nailgun

@kellogh Is there something a bit more brief than a thesis about it?

"The research into Verra, the world’s leading carbon standard for the rapidly growing $2bn (£1.6bn) voluntary offsets market, has found that, based on analysis of a significant percentage of the projects, more than 90% of their rainforest offset credits – among the most commonly used by companies – are likely to be “phantom credits” and do not represent genuine carbon reductions."

So greenwashing schemes do not work as advertised? Who'd have thought?

@rrb I find it useful, it makes life easier.
If you work for any kind of public institution I would imagine your government knows where you are and what you do anyways.
If someone wants to track you and you don't have an orcid, they can just write your name on any publications search engine and find all you did.
To me, it just looks like making life easier to your peers looking for your works, you're not really disclosing any more information than what you already disclose yourself.
That's unless you change name in each article you publish. As far as I know you can use a pseudonym in orcid as well.
