Riprenditi in fretta!

@12ax7 @Karamels@nebbia.fail Ah, questa è cattiva!

@Karamels@nebbia.fail Però Brumotti è bravo, che saltella con la bici in giro andando a rompere i coglioni alla gente senza fare nulla di utile dalla mattina alla sera.

Wonderful article about a new approach to a problem which also provides an open source library.
Test the library, doesn't really work that well.
Read the library code: pretty much exactly the old solution but with awful coding, the logic is so bad it cannot even achieve the performance of the previous approaches.
Bunch of spelling mistakes, a bunch of self spelled as sefl, which incredibly it appears to work anyways in python...

please share this around

I'm looking for a contract + relocation outside of my country before Jan 2024.

My skillset revolves around programming (bit over a year of professional experience, bit over 4 years of personal experience), and a little bit of devops. But really, I'm willing to wash dishes if it means I can leave for good. I have enough money to kickstart my stay in any country, it's at least double the usual amount required by work visas I looked at.

It's not safe for people like me to stay here, I've been laying low for years to avoid harm (either by the govt or my social circle), and it's really starting to get to me. One by one, people who are close to me are showing signs of being unsafe. I can't be myself around so many of the people I would've normally run to in case of trouble. It's a crushing feeling.

If 2023 passes, I'll be stuck (legally speaking) and denied travel until I reach the age of 30 (2028). I don't want to imagine living this life for another 5 years.

Feel free to DM for details on the legal part, on my experience & skills, or anything else. My legal record is spotless, not even a parking ticket, this is just how my country operates.
I don't want to say more details publicly—this already narrows down on me more than I'm comfortable with, but time is running out and I'm grasping at straws.

@Lindysalsagal Nah, Science is more like being in the dark room, throwing rocks around and assuming the cat is where screaming sounds come from.

Ho visto l'altro giorno il film Courier, estremamente bello ed interessante nel rappresentare la vita cinica dei giovani russi dell'epoca.

> alchemy was just people trying to turn things yellow
> and chemistry is just people trying to prevent things from turning yellow

@7 I mean, depends a lot on the synthesis.
Depends a lot on what you're doing.
If you're in organic chemistry I'd say the main objective is not to turn stuff black.

French cooking: Let’s add more butter and see what happens.
British cooking: Let’s boil it for two hours and see what happens.
Italian cooking: Let’s use really good, fresh ingredients for everything and see what happens.
American cooking: Let’s go to McD and see what happens.

@GustavinoBevilacqua @dgar @Jimmyjimjim @CheckingInOcassionally@mastodon.ie I remember a very good celebration with a bunch of boxes of Nastro Azzurro because we found them on a discount.
We had to mix it with water to give it some flavour...

To a large extent, this 'success' was made possible by all the scholarly organizations that have helped funnel tax funds to the shareholders of the monopolist!

@sergedroz @bert_hubert It has been proven false, the original research had strong methodological errors.

@capetaun Che palle questi amici senza competizione... La prossima volta falli giocare a diplomacy

@deadlyvices I feel like this would fail to describe data formats with non fixed information content. For example the mmCIF format for crystallographic structures of macro molecules contains a lot of fields that can be optional and can be placed in different positions providing different information.

Anyways, I don't think this would solve the issue, it would just let us describe the specific properties of each file format in a standardized way.

I don't think the problem of infinite chemical file formats will be solved any time soon, each one is based on a different way to look at chemical entities and often on different theories.
It would be nice to have a standard file format for small organic molecules containing 3D information, it would also be great if it wasn't based (at least not completely) on the Valence Bond theory.
