Do any of y'all spend more time in the local timeline than in the home timeline?
@design_RG My home feed is way busier than the local timeline, now that I've imported my main follow list!
@realcaseyrollins Yeah, mine is like that too. Always a lot of traffic there, while here sometimes there's no post for a while.
I have a lot less activity in my home feed so naturally it takes a bit longer to catch up on the local one. It's true that I skim past way more on the local feed since it isn't curated to my specific interests, but on balance it still takes more time.

I think that is an excellent idea. I have various accounts, as a way to see what other places are like.
There's nothing comparable to seeing them first hand, as we will get the pulse of the place, seeing all that is there.
We might see some of their content if we follow one or more of their users, and maybe see some of their local posts boosted by them. But that is not the full experience.
I love the Pinafore client for mastodon, and one of the things it does really well, apart from being very fast, is esily supporting switching between different instances. A couple clicks and it can change from instance A to B, C or D. You can also have custom color themes for each of them if that helps not confusing where you are currently.
The fediverse is rich, and the fact each instance can have it's own personality is wonderful. Nice to be able to find good ones that fit our personal affinities.
Have another one at least in mind I should be joining, as I like the people from there I have met so far, they are progressive and I think I should enjoy it.

@design_RG damn it Rob, why are you always so eager... now I have to drop the creeper act and talk like a normal human being. You can browse and interact with local timeline of an instance without having an account there. However most clients, including pinafore, don't support this. Fedilab is the only one I know that does. Very sad... be sad Rob.. and include the sadness in your preservation there.

LOL, sorry, it's early and I just got up - I do my best thinking and writing in the morning.
And the suggestion is good, happens to align with my own thinking as a curious user too.
Seeing the local timelines, my experience on visiting other instances pages and looking is that Tilled page wit ha ton of posts, not our usual vertical feedline.
The tiled view sometimes doesn't even show the Local feed, it might be the Federated one as I have seen other instance's posts there.
Would be nice if a client can display only local feed without needing to create a local account for that. I got to look at Fedilab Lite on my not so used mobile for that. Thanks for mentioning it!

@realcaseyrollins I do! Our local feed is pretty decent, some good posts prop up.
@realcaseyrollins I do, I like to check all new local posts since the last time I was in, respond to notifications, greet new users, respond to new and interesting topics, etc.
It feels different, closer, looking at people we are more familiar with already. When things quiet down, I go to the Home feed to see what's passing by, respond to some interesting ones, maybe find new and interesting people to follow.
