read about twitter aspiration to federate. BlueSky, pie in the sky?

As a big advocate of the to get out of the walled gardens like Facebook, and ironically Twitter, I think it'd do a lot of good for them to be involved in ActivityPub (the W3C standardized lingua franca of the federated social media platforms).…

@realcaseyrollins

Would you want to federate with Twitter? is alight with this.

Most say No way, José. Me included, stay away please.

@design_RG

I'm not sure I see any issue with federating with them. People can block the instance if they wish. But I have no moral objection to being able to hear or interact with a twitter user.

@freemo @design_RG

Two benefits I see with Twitter federating:

1) Easier for Tweeters to leave Twitter for another instance

2) Greater reach and engagement ability to and from politicians.

@realcaseyrollins @freemo

Sorry but I wouldnt consider those two advantages.

belongs to us.

Decent twitter users are welcome to find out and join, hopefully they find an instance where they fit well

(we need to work on documenting and evaluating instances, to help users find better matches - and avoid annoying current user bases)

Politicians, I don't want to see our feedlines become another noise channel like TV for their incessant effort to attract attention and support (apparently essential to do anything, right or wrong).

So, see no need for them here.

We need new networks and new leaderships. They can develop here.

This is much like earlier networks I participated in, and the earlier internet, up to 1996 or so, before commercial usage washed over.

@design_RG @freemo

Your feed can only be filled with bots if you or people you follow are politicians and/or repost politicians' posts.
