If one considers this from a demographic standpoint it makes complete sense.
Germans have the lowest Total Fertility Rate on the planet. Within 20 years nearly all new workforce entrants will be illiterate immigrants unable to deal with any technology more advanced than a hammer. Maintaining nuke plants or electrical grids will be impossible. Shutting these down in advance of that is a good idea. And it isn’t like modern Germans will need a modern source of energy for a modern future they refuse to populate and so won’t have.
