I enjoy things around information theory (and data compression), complexity theory (and cryptography), read hard scifi, currently work on weird ML (we'll see how it goes), am somewhat literal minded and have approximate knowledge of random things. I like when statements have truth values, and when things can be described simply (which is not exactly the same as shortly) and yet have interesting properties.
I live in the largest city of Switzerland (and yet have cow and sheep pastures and a swimmable lake within a few hundred meters of my place :)). I speak Polish, English, German, and can understand simple Swiss German and French.
If in doubt, please err on the side of being direct with me. I very much appreciate when people tell me that I'm being inaccurate. I think that satisfying people's curiosity is the most important thing I could be doing (and usually enjoy doing it). I am normally terse in my writing and would appreciate requests to verbosify.
I appreciate it if my grammar or style is corrected (in any of the languages I use here).

Random thought: is there any fantasy novel that includes a strike (in the labor sense) of magical weapons?
Can Alexa be used to play e.g. YT videos? If so, a video that instructs alexa to play itself would be such a quine.
Wouldn't the advice to get away asap also apply to the case where they desist only when asked to put it in writing? ISTM that in that case they don't care about consequences of their requests (both on ostensible goals of the organisation, as well as on their employees) unless those consequences would befall them personally.
(This is a genuine question with no intended subtext: my interpretations of social situations have low SNR.)
I understand that the situations are different, but my mom got her PhD at ~55.
@Lana @rail_ they did skip resonance testing of Saturn v in vacuum, which resulted in pogo oscillations on iirc Apollo 8, which caused the engine to be switched off due to oscillations becoming large enough to trip chamber pressure or some such limits. Had they not tripped them, a breakup of the launch vehicle would have likely followed. (Which the crew would have a good chance of surviving.)
What's the cost of the squeeze that you expect?
This also seems like evidence for lack of quality control of the actual ingredients (in particular, how much of them are in there).

Być może innym fragmentem problemu jest to, że text/plain jest bardzo złym domysłem (już application/octet-stream byłoby lepszym i z punktu widzenia prawdomówności jak i z punktu widzenia skutków).
@kuba to że ona istnieje jest sugerowane przez kropkę na górze. Wszystkie potencjometry z przełącznikiem które widziałem w życiu miały wyłączoną pozycję przełącznika na lewo od zakresu regulacji, więc zakładam że ten też. (No i zakładam, że pokrętło działa monotonicznie, więc pozycja wyłączona jest obok minimalnego chłodzenia)

Also, Polish has an amusing variety of beams named after letter shapes (teownik, ceownik, zetownik, dwuteownik which IMO should rather be haownik but sadly isn't).
Amusingly, I-beam works only in serifed fonts.

incidentally, the two are related; back in late 1800s, when people wanted to manufacture things like typewriters and sewing machines, they didn't have an entire industrial base that would do precision things out of metal on contract available for them
they could, however, hire a gun manufacturer, which is someone who makes precision things out of metal on contract

Are they examples of resp. lying and self-deception, or do you feel that they are closer than these two?
Do you know how this looked like during the later 1910s flu pandemic? (It lasted at least 2 years, so even novels should have been affected, but the then very recent Great War might have been a confounder.)
